The unilateral or bilateral approach for nephrectomy in horseshoe kidney by minimally invasive surgery has been described. A total binephrectomy by a unilateral retroperitoneoscopic approach was performed for congenital nephrotic syndrome. INTRODUCTION: We present our technique of laparoscopic nephrectomy with intact specimen extraction for patient with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD).
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A 5-port retroperitoneal laparoscopic approach was used to dissect the involved kidney, which was then removed intact through a Gibson modified incision.
RESULTS: The operative time was 110 minutes. Blood loss accounted for 50 mL. There were no intra or post-operative complications. The hospital stay was 4 days.
CONCLUSIONS: Laparoscopic nephrectomy for ADKD is technically feasible and clinically safe

Renal hydatid disease is a rare pathological condition in children. Hydatid cyst of the kidney corresponds to 2-4% of all hydatid disease cases. Minimally invasive techniques have been used in the treatment of renal hydatid cysts but surgical experience is limited. We report a 10-year-old patient with a left renal hydatid cyst treated using a retroperitoneal laparoscopic technique.

BACKGROUND: The minimally invasive lateral interbody fusion (MIS LIF) in the lumbar spine can correct coronal Cobb angles, but the effect on sagittal plane correction is unclear.
METHODS: A retrospective review of thirty-five patients with lumbar degenerative disease who underwent MIS LIF without supplemental posterior instrumentation was undertaken to study the radiographic effect on the restoration of segmental and regional lumbar lordosis using the Cobb angles on pre- and postoperative radiographs. Mean disc height changes were also measured.

The authors describe a case of entomophthoromycosis in a previously healthy patient, who presented with an abscess in the right buttock. After surgical drainage it evolved into a retroperitoneal tumor. The patient improved clinically after resection of the mass and ketoconazole treatment. The histopathological analysis showed the Splendore-Hoeppli phenomenon, suggesting Basidiobolus ranarum infection, a zygomycosis generally restricted to the subcutaneous tissue, with rare gastrointestinal involvement.
