Defining Success in the Delivery of Fertility-Related Care for Patients with Differences of Sex Development.

INTRODUCTION: Individuals with differences of sex development (DSD) experience complex, often competing, medical and psychosocial challenges surrounding fertility. The study aimed to characterize how "success" in fertility-related care is conceptualized and attained among individuals with a DSD, their parents or caregivers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders. METHODS: As part of a larger study, DSD stakeholders (n = 110) participated in semi-structured interviews covering the clinical care of patients with DSD. Primary questions included "What is a successful outcome in DSD care?" a

Expert stakeholders' perspectives on a Data-to-Care strategy for improving care among HIV-positive individuals incarcerated in jails.

Data-to-Care (D2C) uses surveillance data (e.g., laboratory, Medicaid billing) to identify out-of-care HIV-positive persons to re-link them to care. Most US states are implementing D2C, yet few studies have explored stakeholders' perspectives on D2C, and none have addressed these perspectives in the context of D2C in jail. This article reports findings from qualitative, semi-structured interviews conducted with expert stakeholders regarding their perspectives on the ethical challenges of utilizing D2C to understand and improve continuity of care among individuals incarcerated in jails. Examining the views of key stakeholders regarding the provision of occupational influenza vaccination for healthcare workers in Australia.

Annual vaccination of hospital healthcare workers (HCWs) may be an effective measure to reduce the transmission of healthcare associated influenza. However, vaccine coverage rates among HCWs in most public Australian hospitals are below satisfactory for a number of reasons. This study aimed to examine the opinions of key health stakeholders on current issues regarding HCW influenza vaccination. A qualitative study involving semi-structured interviews was undertaken with key Australian health stakeholders representing different organizations and sectors involved in influenza vaccination and pol

Barriers to accessing newer antibiotics in countries with high burden of bacterial antimicrobial resistant infections-a qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Bacterial antimicrobial resistant (AMR) infections pose a significant health threat. Newer antibiotics designed to treat resistant pathogens may offer superior efficacy and fewer side effects compared to older alternatives. However, access to newer antibiotics remains limited in high AMR burden Asian countries. We aimed to explore stakeholder perspectives on barriers and potential solutions to improving access to newer antibiotics across Asia. METHODS: We conducted a qualitative study using semi-structured interviews with stakeholders across Asia between April 2024 and April 2025.

Engaging underrepresented populations in public health monitoring: strategies for people with mild intellectual disability or low literacy skills.

BACKGROUND: Recruitment challenges, the use of complex language, and reluctance toward research are factors that make people with low literacy skills (LL skills), such as people with mild intellectual disability (MID), an underrepresented group in public health monitoring questionnaires. As a result, little is known about the health status and needs of people with MID and/or LL skills, despite their higher health risks and greater support needs, reinforcing health inequalities. Therefore, this case study evaluates the development and implementation of an accessible online COVID-19 health monit

Future directions for medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder with American Indian/Alaska Natives.

The U.S. is experiencing an alarming opioid epidemic, and although American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/ANs) are especially hard hit, there is a paucity of opioid-related treatment research with these communities. AI/ANs are second only to Whites in the U.S. for overdose mortality. Thus, the National Institute on Drug Abuse convened a meeting of key stakeholders to elicit feedback on the acceptability and uptake of medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorders (OUDs) among AI/ANs. Five themes from this one-day meeting emerged: 1) the mismatch between Western secular and reduc

International practices, barriers, and enablers for patient and public involvement in pricing and reimbursement decision-making: a mixed-methods study.

IntroductionPatient and public involvement (PPI) in pricing and reimbursement (P&R) procedures is increasingly recognized as essential for strengthening the quality, legitimacy, and patient-centredness of healthcare decision-making. However, implementation remains heterogeneous across countries and data on concrete practices, barriers, and enablers are fragmented. This study aimed to map international approaches to PPI in P&R procedures and identify barriers and enablers to meaningful involvement.MethodsA mixed-methods design was applied, combining a scoping literature review complemented by q

Co-research in the development of AI and digital health tools for cancer management and care: a systematic review.

BackgroundParticipatory approaches (including co-research, co-design, Patient and Public Involvement [PPI], and Participatory Action Research [PAR]) are increasingly being incorporated into digital health innovation. However, their application in cancer-related digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool lifecycle remains insufficiently synthesised, limiting understanding of how participatory approaches influence ethical outcomes, trust, and the real-world implementation of these technologies. This review moves beyond documenting participatory approaches to critically examine how far partici

Using community-based participatory approaches to improve access to mass drug administration for trachoma elimination in a pastoral conflict area of Kenya.

In Baringo County, Kenya, trachoma remains endemic despite repeated mass drug administration (MDA) efforts, with coverage in one of the wards consistently falling short of world health organization (WHO) targets. The disease is endemic in 12 out of the 47 counties in Kenya. Baringo county is a pastoral conflict, hard to reach area where eight rounds of mass drug administration (MDA) for trachoma have been implemented. In Loyamorok ward, treatment coverage has been below 68% against the WHO recommended threshold of 80%. Community engagements that promote participatory approaches are key to MDA

Successes and failures of built environment interventions: Using concept mapping to assess stakeholder perspectives in four Canadian cities.

BACKGROUND: Healthy communities can be supported through built environment interventions that redesign cities for improved health outcomes. Understanding the context of these interventions is critical for assessing how an intervention impacts population health; such context is often poorly documented. This study uses concept mapping to capture stakeholders' perspectives on the factors that influence the success and failure of built environment interventions across cities. METHODS: The INTErventions, Research, and Action in Cities Team (INTERACT) research program undertook concept mapping exer
