OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to evaluate the hearing results of stapes surgery with 2 different full metal stapes prostheses.
STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective analyses were carried out on the pre- and postoperative hearing results obtained after primary stapedotomy with 2 different prostheses.
PATIENTS: We studied 106 patients with otosclerosis treated by stapes surgery.
INTERVENTION: Fifty-three patients had a stapedotomy with a gold piston and 53 patients received a titanium piston after stapedotomy.

BACKGROUND: Arthrodesis of the first metatarsophalangeal joint (MTPJ) is used to treat a variety of foot pathologies. Numerous methods of internal fixation and bone end preparation have been reported. In an effort to bring together the best features of the various internal fixation devices, a low-profile contoured titanium plate (LPCT) using a compression screw was designed to be used with a ball-and-socket bone end preparation. BACKGROUND: Trigeminal neuralgia is usually treated by the padding method using Teflon felt. However this can not be done in certain cases in whom a large tortuous vertebrobasilar artery compresses the fifth nerve. The transposition method using the sling may be an alternative method. The ideal surgical treatment of multilevel cervical spondylosis remains unclear. This study analyzed the complications in using titanium cages and plating to reconstruct multilevel cervical corpectomies. This was a retrospective analysis of 21 consecutive patients who had multilevel cervical corpectomies and reconstruction with titanium cages and anterior plating. Displacement injuries of permanent teeth are an increasing emergency in the dental office. Children and adolescents are particularly prone to dental trauma due to participation in risky activities. Successful aortic stump closure in a patient with Behçet's disease was accomplished with a permanent titanium clamp. In May 1990, a saccular infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm was detected in this patient, and prosthetic graft replacement was carried out. Implant abutments can be exposed to a variety of oral prophylaxis procedures. In this in vitro study, titanium abutments were subjected to five oral prophylaxis treatment modalities; a metal scaler, a plastic scaler, a rubber cup, a rubber cup with tin oxide, and an air-powder abrasive. Anterior decompression in spinal metastases of the corporal type with impending (n = 5) or present (n = 36) neurological complications was performed in 41 patients. For reconstruction, a titanium cylinder was inserted after spondylectomy and augmented with an anterior plate. A hollow screw-plate system made of titanium for osteosynthesis of the cervical spine is presented. This system is designed to achieve a stable fixation for fusion of the vertebra. The posterior corticalis of the vertebral body need not and indeed cannot be perforated by the screws. Loosening of the screws is not longer possible because of growth of bone into the lumen of the screw and direct attachment of bone to the surface of the screw.

Herein, we reported a synergistic strategy using a binary Li2CO3/LiOH lithium source coupled with TiO2 incorporation to enhance the CO2 capture performance of Li4SiO4. The mixed lithium precursor improved CO2 capture capacity, while TiO2 incorporation further stabilized its structure to suppress sintering over long cycles. Our work thus provided an effective strategy for developing high-performance oxide-based sorbents for CO2 capture.
