PURPOSE: Single-port laparoscopic herniorrhaphy is widely employed for indirect inguinal hernia repair in children. PURPOSE: Teaching the no-scalpel vasectomy is important, since vasectomy is a safe, simple, and cost-effective method of contraception. This minimally invasive vasectomy technique involves delivering the vas through the skin with specialized tools. This technique is associated with fewer complications than the traditional incisional vasectomy (1). One of the most challenging steps is the delivery of the vas through a small puncture in the scrotal skin, and there is a need for a realistic and inexpensive scrotal model for beginning learners to practice this step.

We examined 11 patients with acquired obstructive azoospermia resulting from irreparable obstruction of 1 vas deferens and severe damage to the contralateral testis. All of the patients underwent transseptal crossed vasovasostomy with no morbidity. During a 5-year period between 1973 and 1977, 87 patients underwent vasovasostomy to correct postvasectomy sterility. Sixty-one patients had single-layer macroscopic reanastomoses and 26 patients had two-layer microscopic reanastomoses. Patency rates of 90% and 96% and pregnancy rates of 46% and 54% for the macroscopic and microscopic techniques were achieved.
