Transurethral prostatectomy was performed in 2,407 patients and open subcapsular prostatectomy in 308 patients. Postsurgical epididymitis developed in 1.0% of the patients undergoing transurethral resection and in 3.2% of the patients undergoing open resection (P less than 0.05). Factors associated with the incidence of epididymitis, such as prostate weight and operating time, were also associated with the incidence of urinary tract infection. Epididymitis was significantly associated with the presence of preoperative catheterization and postoperative urinary tract infection.

OBJECTIVES: To examine the retention of sperm cytoplasmic droplets (CD) and DNA denaturation (DD) in semen from fertile and infertile men.
METHODS: Semen samples were obtained from consecutive nonazoospermic men presenting for infertility evaluation (n = 101) and fertile men presenting for vasectomy (n = 13). The standard semen parameters (sperm concentration, motility, and morphology), sperm DD, and sperm CD were monitored. OBJECTIVE: Our objective was to evaluate the recovery rate of spermatozoa from the epididymis using a percutaneous aspiration technique and to assess the fertilisation rate after intracytoplasmic sperm injection.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Fifty-four patients with azoospermia had a total of 59 cycles at IVF with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). The cause of the azoospermia was failed vasectomy reversal in 23 cases, congenital absence of the vas in 22 cases, partial testicular failure in 5 cases, and retrograde ejaculation in 2 cases, while the remaining 2 patients had erectile disorders.

We report a 57-year-old man who visited a local hospital because of a fist-sized swelling and pain in his right scrotum. Surgically resected tissue revealed necrotizing arteritis in a small spermatic artery. As systemic symptoms for angiitis were not present, this is thought to be the second case of isolated angiitis occurring in the spermatic cord.
