Visual function was investigated in a group of 58 clinically classified cases of multiple sclerosis (MS). Psychophysical measures of luminance and chromatic threshold sensitivity and temporal contrast sensitivity were undertaken, together with visual evoked potentials and Bjerrum screen perimetry. Although Alzheimer's disease (AD) involves visual association cortex, previous studies have not systematically investigated complex visual disturbances in AD. We examined 30 community-based AD patients, 13 (43%) of whom had complex visual complaints, and compared them with 30 controls on 7 types of complex visual tasks. An analysis of visual defects among 310 children referred from a vision screening of 2 178 7-year-old children revealed a 50% frequency of significant eye defects among the referrals (7% of screened children). Interocular transfer of two figural aftereffects was examined in orthotropes and strabismic subjects. OBJECTIVE: To test whether limitations in mobility and large-muscle functioning mediate self-reported vision status to increase fall risk among respondents age 65 and above.
METHOD: This study used two waves from the Health and Retirement Study. We conducted binary logistic and negative binomial regression analyses to test indirect paths leading from self-reported vision status to falls, via indices of mobility and large-muscle functioning.

An 8-year-old male with poor vision from presumed toxocaral optic neuritis is presented. The diagnosis is supported by positive serum ELISA testing. Subtenon's depot injections of Kenalog resulted in excellent improvement and final visual acuity of 20/20. Early diagnosis with serum ELISA tests and vigorous treatment with subtenon's steroids are recommended.

To assess computer vision syndrome (CVS) in a preteen population through an adult-validated CVS questionnaire and to evaluate how digital devices affect accommodative and binocular vision, we enrolled 309 preteens in this cross-sectional study.
