Infective endocarditis caused by Kingella denitrificans occurs rarely. A review of the literature reveals only 6 cases of endocarditis caused by the bacillus. K. denitrificans is normally a commensal of the upper respiratory airways, may exceptionally be responsible for endocarditis. BACKGROUND: Photocatalysis of titanium dioxide (TiO(2)) substrates is primarily induced by ultraviolet light irradiation. Anion-doped TiO(2) substrates were shown to exhibit photocatalytic activities under visible-light illumination, relative environmentally-friendly materials. Their anti-spore activity against Bacillus anthracis, however, remains to be investigated. We report a patient with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome whose clinical presentation and histologic features resembled Whipple's disease. Melioidosis is an infectious disease caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei, a gram-negative bacillus. We report a case of endogenous endophthalmitis caused by B. pseudomallei that was treated with systemic and intravitreal ceftazidime. Finally, the patient achieved a final visual acuity of 20/60 without complication.

We report a case of bacteremia caused by Solobacterium moorei, an anaerobic, non-sporulated Gram-positive bacillus in a patient with a multiple myeloma. The source of infection was presumably related to multiple dento-alveolar abscesses. This is the first recovery of S. moorei from blood cultures.
