We searched the following databases for previously published, peer-reviewed studies that used suitable diagnostic methods in adult nonclinical samples: Ovid MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Pubmed, AccessMedicine, Cochrane Library, Books@Ovid, DynaMed, Micromedex, Science Direct, and SciVerse Scopus. We conducted multiple searches using the following terms: frotteu*, frottage, frotteurism, paraphilia, paraphilic, courtship disorder, prevalence, treatment, diagnosis, and chikan, and we evaluated the articles by using a six-point

Historical overview of community health practitioners in Korea.

The Korean government introduced CHPs (Community Health Practitioners) as front-line primary health care providers to address the health disparity between urban and rural areas. Through their dedicated contribution over last 30 years, the CHPs have improved Korea's public health through the successful control of high birth rates, a lowered maternal and infant mortality rate in the 1980s, eradication of parasitic infection, and containing many communicable diseases including hepatitis B. However, rapid changes in the health care environment and demands for health care among rural residents have

Enteral Nutrition for Older Adults in Healthcare Communities.

Older adults living in healthcare communities (HCCs) have multiple comorbidities and are at increased risk of malnutrition and unintended weight loss. Aging affects nearly every system as well as body composition and structure, causing physiological changes that can affect nutrition status. A significant percentage (56%) of residents who live in nursing facilities require extensive help to eat and have dental problems such as ill-fitting dentures, missing teeth, and swallowing problems, which can lead to inadequate caloric intake and unintended weight loss. Alzheimer disease or dementia is pre

The impact of breastfeeding on nasopharyngeal microbial communities in infants.

RATIONALE: Breastfeeding elicits significant protection against respiratory tract infections in infancy. Modulation of respiratory microbiota might be part of the natural mechanisms of protection against respiratory diseases induced by breastfeeding. OBJECTIVES: To study the association between breastfeeding and nasopharyngeal microbial communities, including all cultivable and noncultivable bacteria. METHODS: In this observational study, we analyzed the microbiota of infants that had received exclusive breastfeeding (n = 101) and exclusive formula feeding (n = 101) at age 6 weeks and 6 mont

Community violence and pregnancy health behaviors and outcomes.

OBJECTIVES: Community violence is associated with health-compromising behaviors (HCBs) and adverse general health and pregnancy outcomes. It is unknown whether these effects persist after adjusting for health behaviors. METHODS: Retrospective cohort study of 36,637 pregnancies, 2005-2009, using birth certificate/hospital discharge databases. Community violence rate = (nonaccidental injuries/total injuries) × 100%. ZIP codes were categorized into levels (CVL) by quartiles (lowest, 1, to highest, 4). Outcomes included HCBs (tobacco, alcohol, or drugs), fetal death, preterm birth, and infant sma

The role of the community nurse in psoriatic comorbidities interventions.

Psoriasis is a chronic disease that affects more than the skin. It has an impact on every facet of an individual's life and is associated with numerous comorbidities, such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, psoriatic arthritis, metabolic syndrome, squamous cell carcinoma, lymphoma, depression, anxiety and other immune-related conditions, such as Crohn's disease. Obesity is inextricably linked with type 2 diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and cardiovascular disease. Hypertension and cardiovascular disease are precursors for myocardial infarction and stroke. Lifestyle choices, s

Pattern of arthralgia in an urban community in Southwestern Nigeria.

BACKGROUND: Arthritis is a common presentation among Nigerians, most especially in the elderly population. Easy access to over-the-counter drugs, paucity of data, and non-orthodox medical practice have underscored the need to examine the magnitude of the problem toward morbidity reduction risk factors. The objective of the study was to determine the pattern of arthralgia in Osogbo community in Southwestern Nigeria. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted between September 2010 and August 2011. Respondents were serially recruited as they presented to the r

Endovascular management of anterior communicating artery aneurysms.

The management of intracranial aneurysms has evolved significantly over the past 2 decades. Anterior communicating artery aneurysms (AComAAs) represent a common and often challenging problem for physicians and patients. Experience and technological advances have broadened the indications for endovascular treatment of all aneurysms. Balloon-mounted catheters and intracranial stents are 2 technological advancements that have made the treatment of previously uncoilable aneurysms feasible. As with all intracranial aneurysms, complete angiographic occlusion remains the goal of care. Balancing the r

Clinical features of endemic community-acquired psittacosis.

Following a large outbreak of community-acquired psittacosis in 2002 in residents of the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia, we reviewed new cases in this area over a 7-year period from 2003 to 2009. Using the 2010 criteria from the Centers for Disease Control National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System, 85 patients with possible psittacosis were identified, of which 48 were identified as definite or probable infection. Clinical features of these cases are summarized. In addition to Chlamydia-specific serology, specimens, where available, underwent nucleic acid testing for chlamyd

Neurosyphilis in the mixed urban-rural community of the Netherlands.

OBJECTIVE: Neurosyphilis is caused by dissemination into the central nervous system of Treponema pallidum. Although the incidence of syphilis in the Netherlands has declined since the mid-1980s, syphilis has re-emerged, mainly in the urban centres. It is not known whether this also holds true for neurosyphilis. METHODS: The epidemiology of neurosyphilis in Dutch general hospitals in the period 1999-2010 was studied in a retrospective cohort study. Data from the Dutch sexually transmitted infection (STI) clinics were used to analyse the number of patients diagnosed with syphilis in this period

[Ceftaroline fosamil in community-acquired and nosocomial pneumonia].

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a common infection in developed countries and causes a large number of hospital admissions and deaths. In recent years, the incidence of this disease has increased, caused by progressive population aging. Following the introduction of the conjugate vaccine against Streptococcus pneumoniae, there have been significant epidemiological changes that require close monitoring because of the possible emergence of new patterns of resistance. This article aims to review the role of ceftaroline fosamil, a new parenteral cephalosporin with antibacterial activity agai

District of Columbia Community Health Needs Assessment.

The District of Columbia Healthy Communities Collaborative (DCHCC) represents a unique collaboration among D.C.-area hospitals and federally qualified health centers. In response to its community commitment and Affordable Care Act requirements, DCHCC set forth to conduct a community health needs assessment (CHNA) that can guide decisions about where and how to allocate resources and implement appropriate health interventions for the population it serves. The CHNA described in this article includes analysis of existing demographic, health status, and hospital service use data, as well as hospit
