We present four patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the small bowel. Three of the patients were men. Two patients presented with acute abdomen due to tumoral perforation and the remaining 2 presented with abdominal pain and other effects of the mass. A 48-year-old woman was admitted with neck tumors and cutaneous nodules. On the histological basis of the skin nodule biopsy, a metastatic anaplastic carcinoma was suspected. Immunohistochemical studies showed the presence of Ki-1 antigen, IL-2 receptor antigen, leukocyte common antigen (LCA), CD3 and CD4 on the tumor cells compatible with Ki-1 positive anaplastic large-cell lymphoma. The paracaspase mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue 1 (MALT1) is a protease and scaffold protein essential in propagating B-cell receptor (BCR) signaling to NF-κB. The deubiquitinating enzyme cylindromatosis (CYLD) is a recently discovered MALT1 target that can negatively regulate NF-κB activation. Here, we show that low expression of CYLD is associated with inferior prognosis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) patients, and that chronic BCR signaling propagates MALT1-mediated cleavage and, consequently, inactivation and rapid proteasomal degradation of CYLD.

We evaluated the association of two IL10 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (rs1800896 and rs1800871) with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) risk in the three major races of the Malaysian population (Malay, Chinese and Indian; 317 cases and 330 controls). PURPOSE: To describe the first case of varicella zoster virus (VZV) retinitis following chimeric antigenic response (CAR) T-cell therapy.
METHODS: Case review.
RESULTS: A 53-year-old male was treated with CAR T-cell therapy for refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Nine months after CAR T-cell therapy, he developed VZV skin infection and retinitis. The retinitis responded to systemic acyclovir therapy and intravitreal ganciclovir.
CONCLUSION: VZV retinitis can occur following CAR T-cell immunotherapy.
