We report a case of transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) syndrome. A 78-year-old man with prostatic hypertrophy was scheduled for transurethral resection of the prostate under spinal anesthesia. 30 minutes after the end of the surgery, the patient presented signs of TURP syndrome with bradycardia, arterial hypotension, cyanosis, hypoxemia and coma. We present the results obtained with the use of platelet-rich plasma and a hydroxyapatite and bovine collagen graft in the management of bone defects.

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate myocardial damage during coronary artery bypass grafting using three different intermittent cardioplegia and then measuring cTnI and CKMBm release.
DESIGN AND METHODS: Forty-two patients belonging to the hypothermic crystalloid (n = 16), hypothermic (n = 13), and normothermic blood (n = 13) groups were collected when removing the aortic cross-clamp (t = 0) and after 4, 12, 24 and 48 h. For each patient, cumulative cTnI and CKMBm release was calculated as the five measurement mean. There were no significant preoperative and operative differences in the three groups.

This study prepared core-shell type nanoparticles of a poly(DL-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) grafted-dextran. We studied the distribution and elimination of an IV infusion of 20 mL/kg of acetated Ringer's solution (approximately 1500 mL) over 60 min in 12 women undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. A plasma dilution of 4.2% developed during the induction of general anesthesia, even though fluid was withheld. The additional plasma dilution induced by the subsequent volume expansion was slightly larger than expected from previous volunteer experiments and averaged 18%.
