Positive impacts of psychological pain treatments: Supplementary analyses of a randomized clinical trial.

OBJECTIVE: Clinical trials often focus on symptom reduction as a primary outcome, overlooking positive psychology factors of potential importance although many individuals can and do live well with pain. This study evaluated the effects of hypnosis (HYP), mindfulness meditation (MM), and pain psychoeducation (ED) on PIIP scores, using data from a completed randomiz

Application of sensory nerve quantitative tests to analyze the subtypes of motor disorders in Parkinson's disease.

This study investigated the sensory nerve function in people with different subtypes of Parkinson's disease (PD), which included the tremor-dominant (TD) group (n = 30), postural instability and gait disorder (PIGD) group (n = 33), and healthy-controls (HC) group (n = 33). Sural nerve's current perception threshold (CPT) and pain tolerance threshold (PTT) in both feet were measured at different frequencies. Results were evaluated using the mini-mental state examination (MMSE), Hoehn Yahr scale (H-Y) , and 3-meter timed-up-and-go-test (TUGT). The MMSE scores of the TD and HC groups were higher

Factors Associated with Vaccination Intention against the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Global Population-Based Study.

Several vaccines have been developed for COVID-19 since the pandemic began. This study aimed to evaluate the factors associated with COVID-19 vaccination intention. A global survey was conducted across 26 countries from October, 2020 to December, 2021 using an online self-administered questionnaire. Demographic information, socio-economic status, and clinical information were collected. A logistic regression examined the associations between vaccine intention and factors such as perceptions and the presence of chronic physical and mental conditions. The sample included 2459 participants, with

Burn-out and employability rates are impacted by the level of job autonomy and workload among Dutch gastroenterologists.

BACKGROUND: Increasing burn-out rates among gastroenterologists make it necessary to find ways to prevent burn-out and to stimulate their ability and willingness to continue working (i.e., their employability). Understanding their antecedents might help organizations to prevent burn-out and to enhance employability among this occupational group. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to provide insight in the relationship between job characteristics and job crafting behavior on the one hand and job outcomes (burn-out symptoms and employability) on the other hand. METHODS: Data from two surv

Transit communication via Twitter during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Transit providers have used social media (e.g., Twitter) as a powerful platform to shape public perception and provide essential information, especially during times of disruption and disaster. This work examines how transit agencies used Twitter during the COVID-19 pandemic to communicate with riders and how the content and general activity influence rider interaction and Twitter handle popularity. We analyzed 654,345 tweets generated by the top 40 transit agencies in the US, based on Vehicles Operated in Annual Maximum Service (VOM), from January 2020 to August 2021. We developed an analysis
