Objective This study was performed to assess the complication and diagnostic rates of computed tomography (CT)-guided transthoracic needle biopsy of pulmonary parenchymal and mediastinal lesions. Methods Patients who were suspected to have a malignancy based on chest imaging and CT and could not be otherwise diagnosed were evaluated. Results Sixty-five patients were included; 48 (73.8%) were male and 17 (26.2%) were female. Their average age was 58 years. The lesion size ranged from 11 to 105 mm. The most common specific histologic subtype was adenocarcinoma, and the least common was lymphoma.

AIM: Thyroiditis is often associated with nodules based on the Bethesda classification system, and the presence of thyroiditis can make thyroid surgery difficult using both conventional techniques and minimally invasive videoassisted approaches (MIVAT).

Approximately 1% of patients with rheumatoid arthritis have chronic lung disease develop, which can lead to complications, including pneumothorax and bronchopleural fistula. Given the inflammatory changes found, along with the immunosuppressant regimen used in management, these complications are often recalcitrant to initial surgical maneuvers. BACKGROUND: The axillobilateral breast approach (ABBA) is a procedure allowing thyroid resection without scarring at the neck. We operated on a series of 26 patients with this technique.
METHOD: Via incisions at the edge of the mamilla and axilla, trocars are placed subcutaneously under the platyma. Dissection is performed bluntly and with an ultrasonographic scalpel under videoscopic control. The procedure itself corresponds to conventional surgery. The specimen is removed through the axillary trocar.
