Resistance in murine schistosomiasis is contingent on activated IL-2 receptor-bearing L3T4+ lymphocytes, negatively regulated by Lyt-2+ cells, and uninfluenced by the presence of IL-4.

These studies assess the roles of subpopulations of T lymphocytes in inducing and modulating resistance to Schistosoma mansoni. C57BL/6 mice were depleted in vivo of L3T4+, Lyt-1+, Lyt-2+, IL-2R+ cells, or IL-4 by administration of appropriate mAb. Resistance and various correlative parameters of the immune response were studied in normal, depleted, and congenitally athymic mice. Depletion of T lymphocytes by anti-L3T4 or anti-IL-2R mAb reduced the development and expression of resistance, IgG2a and IgE antibody formation, and delayed type hypersensitivity reactivity against schistosome Ag. Oxytocin Receptors on Calvarial Periosteal Innervation: Therapeutic Target for Post-Traumatic Headache?

OBJECTIVE: Following a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), the most prevalent and profoundly debilitating occurrence is the emergence of an acute and persistent post-traumatic headache (PTH), for which there are presently no approved treatments. A crucial gap in knowledge exists regarding the consequences of an mTBI, which could serve as a foundation for the development of therapeutic approaches. The activation of trigeminal sensory nerve terminals that innervate the calvarial periosteum (CP)-a densely innervated tissue layer covering the calvarial skull-has been implicated in both migraines a

Development of AI-assisted 3D-printed degradable hydrogel microneedles for transdermal delivery of progesterone-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles: a novel approach to slowing Alzheimer's disease progression.

Progesterone (PG) is used to slow the progression of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease (AD) in postmenopausal women. However, PG exhibits high lipophilicity, resulting in strong binding to skin tissues and plasma proteins, which may limit its systemic transport via transdermal routes. Solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) have been highlighted for their potential to enhance drug solubility and facilitate brain-targeted drug delivery for AD treatment. Microneedles (MNs) offer an advanced microtechnology for transdermal drug delivery, significantly improving drug permeation

Ginger-derived exosome-like nanoparticles enable enhanced transdermal delivery of finasteride for androgenetic alopecia treatment.

Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a highly prevalent hair loss disorder, and finasteride (FIN) is one of the two drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration for treating AGA. The clinical use of finasteride for AGA is limited by its poor solubility and systemic adverse effects. To address the limitations of finasteride, we developed a drug delivery system using ginger-derived exosome-like nanoparticles (GELNs). These nanoparticles were loaded with finasteride and integrated into a thermosensitive gel (FIN@GELNs-Gel) to enhance transdermal absorption. In vitro results demonstrated that the
