Otobius megnini has an autogenous 1 host life cycle, where larvae and nymphs stay attached inside the ear canal for long periods, but the adult tick is free living and can lay several egg batches without feeding. Craniopagus conjoined twins have long been the subject of interest because of the rarity and peculiarity of their juxtaposition. We present the surgical, airway and anesthetic challenges in craniopagus conjoined twins, in which one of the twins underwent adenoidectomy for obstructive sleep breathing disorder. The surgical procedure required a special setting from an anesthetic perspective whereby both children needed anesthesia due to the complex physiology of their brains and cardiovascular systems. As well, we took the opportunity to do bilateral ear examinations of both twins.

The objective of the current study was to detect the prevalence of developmental anomalies of the external ear among children between aged 4-6 years old in Sivas, Turkey. This cross-sectional study was conducted among 1,096 preschool children. Among the 1,096 children examined, 8 had accessory auricle, and prevalence of the anomaly was calculated at 0.7%. Acquired localized hypertrichosis has rarely been reported. Here, we describe a patient with localized hypertrichosis of the pinnae that occurred 4 months after orchiectomy and chemotherapy for a testicular carcinoma. To our knowledge, this is the first case of an acquired hypertrichosis of the pinnae after cancer therapy. We propose that in our patient either hypogonadism or the hormonal imbalance caused by the cancer therapy led to the development of the hairy pinnae, perhaps alongside a genetic predisposition for hairy ears.

CONCLUSION: Evoked oto-acoustic emission (EOAE), in particular the slow component, is fragile with the inner ear lesions and is apt to disappear in impaired ears. This presence is thought to mean that inner ear is not badly damaged, and that the presence of EOAEs in early stage sudden deafness carries a good prognosis. Narrow-band EOAE analysis would open a potentially promising way to manage sensorineural deafness.

Acoustic communication involves both the generation and the detection of a signal. In the coqui frog (Eleutherodactylus coqui), it is known that the spectral contents of its calls systematically change with altitude above sea level. Here, distortion product otoacoustic emissions are used to assess the frequency range over which the inner ear is sensitive.
