Complete resection of a rare hepatoblastoma in the caudate lobe, involving the inferior vena cava (IVC), is reported. Thirty-four children with chronic renal failure were examined to evaluate the character and frequency of radiographic changes in the jawbones as related to radiographic abnormalities in other skeletal regions and laboratory data. Twenty-seven children showed signs of renal osteodystrophy on the roentgenograms. Deep venous thrombosis of the lower extremities is an uncommon but dreaded complication of pregnancy which can present diagnostic and therapeutic problems to the treating physician. From January 1, 1985, to December 31, 1988, 7867 deliveries were performed at St. Luke's Hospital. Five of these patients were pregnant women who were treated for deep venous thrombosis of the lower extremities. The women were either in their second or third trimester of pregnancy. The incidence of childhood immersion injury in a defined population is reported. The data were drawn from this Hospital's Child Injury Surveillance programme and cover the period July 1, 1984 to June 30, 1985. Survivors of severe craniocerebral injury in childhood require prolonged rehabilitation care. We have surveyed the incidence, social characteristics and early hospital course of such patients in Israel. Yearly incidence was 1:100,000. Thirty-six patients were surveyed. Thirteen of these patients (36%) were described as suffering from cognitive deficits prior to injury and in 11 families (30%), the parent pair showed disturbed function before the injury. Of 17 032 women taking part in the Oxford Family Planning Association contraceptive study, 4104 stopped using a birth control method to plan a pregnancy on a total of 6199 occasions. The influence of various factors on fertility in these women was assessed by measuring the time taken to give birth to a child. Cytogenetic studies were performed on 136 couples with a history of two or more abortions referred to us after gynaecological causes of the abortions had been excluded.
