AIM: The aim of the present study was to retrospectively investigate the dermatological diseases seen in geriatric patients, and their distribution according to age, sex and season, making a significant contribution to the few previous prevalence studies.

BACKGROUND: Urolithiasis (UL) is a common problem in pediatric nephrology practice. About 9-23% of all pediatric UL cases consist of patients under 1 years old. The aim of the present study was to determine etiologic causes, clinical features and short term prognosis of urolithiasis in the first two years of life.
METHODS: Two-hundred children between 0-2 years of age (mean age 10.3±6.1 months) with urolithiasis were included to the study. All children were completely evaluated for urolithiasis etiology. Patients were followed for at least 1 year with 3-month follow-up intervals.

Serefeddin Sabuncuoglu was an early 15th century surgeon in Anatolia. His masterpiece entitled Cerrahiyetül Haniye (Imperial Surgery) is the first illustrated surgical textbook in the Turkish Islamic literature of the Ottoman era Anatolia. It is the first written medical-surgical work in Anatolian history and it covers the treatment of more than 40 illnesses, which range from hydrocephalus to sciatica. This study aims to investigate the contribution of Anatolia to neurosurgery through Sabuncuoglu's treatment of sciatica, a problematic and common illness.

This research was carried out in order to determine the prevalence of Eimeria spp. Cryptosporidium spp. oocysts and Giardia cysts in calves less than 6 months of age in Van province. For this purpose, fecal samples were obtained from the rectum of 182 calves. Fecal samples (n: 182) were examined with the modified acid-fast technique for Cryptosporidium spp. oocysts. We describe an additional case of Cenani-Lenz syndactylism in a 4 1/2-year-old boy from a consanguineous Turkish family. The digital anomalies consisted partly of synostosis and partly of malformations of the phalanges.
