Tyrosinemia type I is an autosomal recessively inherited metabolic disease of tyrosine metabolism due to the deficiency of fumarylacetoacetate hydrolase. Clinical manifestations include hepatic failure, cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, renal fanconi syndrome, and neurologic crisis. With the introduction of 2-(2-nitro-4-trifluoro-methylbenzyol)-1,3 cyclohexanedione treatment the prognosis improved with reduced rate of complications. Neuroblastoma (NB) is an embryonal tumor of the sympathetic nervous system. It represents the most common malignant extracerebral solid tumor, and the first solid tumor in children aged less than one year. Neuroblastoma is rare in adults. Acute psychosis developed in an elderly patient with Parkinson disease and she was admitted and treated with quetiapine (Seroquel). One day later, high fever unexplained by infection appeared associated with restlessness, confusion, convulsion, leukocytosis, and extreme serum creatine kinase levels. Mucormycosis is serious emerging infection, caused by saprophytic fungi of the order Mucorales, which mainly affects immunocompromised patients. Presentation forms can be rinosinusal, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, disseminated and localized wounds and burns. The cutaneous presentation is caused by inoculation of spores into the dermis with the subsequent development compatible with gangrenous ecthyma. It is reasonable to expect the presence of multiple drugs to present a complicated picture of toxicity. We report a fatal case involving a young man who purchased illicit drugs and knowingly consumed them. After consuming these drugs and going to sleep in his friend's car, he was found unresponsive the next morning with no signs of physical violence. We report two fatalities that are related to the cathinone 4-methylethcathinone (4-MEC) and review the current knowledge of 4-MEC. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of 4-MEC was performed by validated high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry methods. In the first case a 22-year-old male died in hospital following collapse and seizures after using 4-MEC. Anabolic androgenic steroids are synthetic derivatives of testosterone that promote the growth of skeletal muscles and have many recognised cardiovascular effects. We report the clinical presentation and pathological findings of an adolescent male whose sudden cardiac arrest following ventricular fibrillation was attributed to anabolic androgenic steroid use. The age of our patient reflects the usage of anabolic androgenic steroids among younger athletes and highlights the need for increased awareness among practitioners.

BACKGROUND: Plate developer is a chemical used in the printing industry and is a corrosive alkaline agent containing sodium metasilicate as the main substance. Plate developer poisoning is rare. Literature search revealed only a single case report of fatal sodium metasilicate poisoning (Z Rechtsmed 94(3):245-250, 1985). Pulmonary tumour thrombotic microangiopathy (PTTM) resulting in fatal pulmonary hypertension is a rare complication of malignancy.
