Primary bone lymphoma is a rare disease, accounting for less than 5% of all extranodal lymphoma. Although the femur is cited as being the most common site, primary bone lymphoma is rare, accounting for less than 1% of all non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Herein we present a case of diffuse B-cell-type malignant lymphoma manifested as a large soft-tissue mass of the leg, via metastasis of primary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the femur, which went untreated. We highlight the advantages of various imaging modalities used throughout the process of diagnosis and treatment because accurate and early diagnosis a

A 49-year-old woman was diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the left ovary. Two months after the hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy operation, the patient was referred to 18F-FDG PET/CT for staging. A mass lesion measuring 2.8 × 3 cm with intense 18F-FDG uptake was observed at right labium majus, which could be considered as a Bartholin's cyst or abscess. The lesion was excised, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma involvement of vulva was revealed by histopathology.

Primary Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the lacrimal sac is extremely rare. Symptoms are usually atypical and nonspecific, which often leads to the original misdiagnosis of dacryocystitis. The most common presenting features are epiphora, swelling, and acute dacryocystitis. We present a case of a 67-year-old female with primary diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) of the lacrimal sac, which was originally diagnosed as dacryocystitis. This case report adds to the urgency that prompt and precise diagnosis and treatment is key.

We conducted genome-wide association studies of non-Hodgkin lymphoma using Illumina HumanHap550 BeadChips to identify subtype-specific associations in follicular, diffuse large B-cell and chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphomas. We found that rs6457327 on 6p21.33 was associated with susceptibility to follicular lymphoma (FL; N = 189 cases, 592 controls) with validation in another 456 FL cases and 2,785 controls (combined allelic P = 4.7 x 10(-11)). The region of strongest association overlapped C6orf15 (STG), located near psoriasis susceptibility region 1 (PSORS1).

INTRODUCTION: Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) is a rare condition characterized by eosinophilia and organ destruction secondary to eosinophilic infiltration. The coexistence of primary B-cell lymphoma and hypereosinophilic syndrome is extremely rare. We present a case of HES that preceded the diagnosis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
CASE REPORT: A 70-year-old man presented with a 3-month history of diarrhea and 30-pound weight loss. Complete blood count showed a white blood cell count of 7452/µL with eosinophils of 42% (absolute eosinophil count 3130). Colonoscopy showed eosinophilic infi

Double-hit (DH) lymphomas with MYC and either BCL2 (DH-BCL2/MYC) or BCL6 (DH-BCL6/MYC) rearrangements are considered very aggressive, many of which are now included in the category B-cell lymphoma, unclassifiable, with features intermediate between diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and Burkitt lymphoma (BL) (DLBCL/BL). However, data describing the DH cases are largely based on DH-BCL2/MYC cases. To better characterize DH-BCL6/MYC cases, the clinical, morphologic, phenotypic, and cytogenetic features of 6 cases from University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and 17 cases from the Mitelman data

To clarify the clinicopathological findings of primary salivary gland lymphoma as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) classification, 30 Japanese patients with this disease were studied. The male to female ratio was 1:1.7 and median patient age was 57 years. The parotid gland (n = 22) was involved most frequently, followed by the submandibular gland (n = 5) and minor salivary gland (n = 3). Twenty-four (80%) cases demonstrated Stage IE, whereas only six (20%) had Stage IIE-1. None of the 30 cases had "B" symptoms or a poor performance status. The 5-year overall survival of 31 cases

An 8-mo-old Mastiff-cross dog with bone pain and lytic-proliferative lesions in the radius, ulna, femur, vertebral spinous processes, and ribs, was diagnosed with lymphoma. The dog also had anemia and thrombocytopenia, and atypical circulating lymphocytes were identified as B cells by flow cytometry. Due to the multicentric, rapidly progressive disease, the dog was euthanized. Postmortem examination confirmed extensive bone replacement by lymphoma, and infiltration of lymph nodes, spleen, and liver. Histomorphology and immunohistochemistry showed a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma that was immuno

The aim of this registry-based retrospective study was to analyze the outcome of second allogeneic hematopoietic SCT (alloHSCT_2) performed in patients with lymphoma who had relapsed after a first allogeneic transplant (alloHSCT_1). Patients ⩾18 years who had received an alloHSCT_2 for lymphoma relapse between 2000 and 2011 were eligible. One hundred and forty patients were identified. The diagnosis was Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) in 31%, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in 14%, T-cell lymphoma in 12%, indolent lymphoma in 19%, mantle cell lymphoma in 16% and other lymphomas in 8% of the patients. Monocytosis is considered a poor prognostic factor for many cancers, including B cell lymphomas. The mechanisms by which different monocyte subsets support the growth of lymphoma is poorly understood. Using a pre-clinical mouse model of B cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (B-NHL), we investigated the impact of tumor progression on circulating monocyte levels, subset distribution and their activity, with a focus on immune suppression. B-NHL development corresponded with significant expansion initially of classical (Ly6Chi) and non-classical (Ly6Clo) monocytes, with accumulation and eventual predomina

B-cell neoplasms represent a clinically heterogeneous group of hematologic malignancies with considerably diverse genomic architecture recently endorsed by next-generation sequencing (NGS) studies. Because multiple genetic defects have a potential or confirmed clinical impact, a tendency toward more comprehensive testing of diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive markers is desired. This study introduces the design, validation, and implementation of an integrative, custom-designed, capture-based NGS panel titled LYmphoid NeXt-generation sequencing (LYNX) for the analysis of standard and novel m

Programmed death 1 (PD-1) is a lymphoid receptor that negatively regulates immune responses. PD-1 expression was recently reported in some T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) subtypes, but the expression profile of PD-1 and its ligands (PD-L1 and PD-L2) in B-NHLs remains largely to be characterized. To investigate this issue, monoclonal antibodies against PD-1, PD-L1, and PD-L2 were generated by immunization of balb-c mice. A series of 161 lymphoma tissue and 11 blood samples was analyzed using either immunohistochemistry or flow cytometry. In reactive lymph nodes, PD-1 was mainly expressed in f

CAR T-cell therapy has transformed the treatment of B-cell non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL), yet treatment failure remains a major concern. Clinical trial data indicate relapse rates up to 50% within 6 months, but real-world evidence on salvage therapy patterns and financial burdens is limited. This study aims to assess the risk of CAR T failure risk, characterize subsequent therapeutic strategies, and quantify patient out-of-pocket (OOP) health care costs. We conducted a retrospective cohort study using the Merative MarketScan database (2017-2022), identifying adult patients with diffuse large B-ce

Despite mounting evidence that epigenetic abnormalities play a key role in cancer biology, their contributions to the malignant phenotype remain poorly understood. Here we studied genome-wide DNA methylation in normal B-cell populations and subtypes of B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma: follicular lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphomas. These lymphomas display striking and progressive intra-tumor heterogeneity and also inter-patient heterogeneity in their cytosine methylation patterns. Epigenetic heterogeneity is initiated in normal germinal center B-cells, increases markedly with disease aggre

UNLABELLED: Rituximab is an anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody that has demonstrated efficacy in patients with various lymphoid malignancies, including indolent and aggressive forms of B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL). While the optimal use of the drug in many clinical settings has yet to be clarified, two pivotal trials have established rituximab as a viable treatment option in patients with relapsed or refractory indolent NHL, and as a standard first-line treatment option when combined with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisone

Seventeen cases of lymphoid neoplasms in swine were investigated and divided into eight histological types. Cases 1-3 were precursor B lymphoblastic leukemias, which occurred in three piglets from the same dam. Cases 4 and 5 were diagnosed, respectively, as a precursor B lymphoblastic lymphoma and a thymic B cell lymphoma, because there were cytological differences between the lymphomas. These five cases of immature B cell malignancies expressed CD79a and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT). Mature B cell lymphomas were divisible into follicular (case 6), diffuse centroblastic (case 7)

Primary haematopoietic neoplasms of the larynx constitute less than 1% of all laryngeal tumours. Most of them are extramedullary plasmocytomas, diffuse large B-cell lymphomas, or MALT-type marginal zone B-cell lymphomas. T- or NK-cell lymphomas have rarely been reported in this location. The diagnosis of laryngeal lymphomas is a challenge, due to the absence of clinical and gross differential criteria. A pathological study is required in all cases. We present hereby a primary laryngeal T/NK-cell lymphoma, nasal-type. The patient, of Mexican origin, presented with involvement of the epiglottis,

Approximately 30% of patients with follicular lymphoma (FL) transform to a more aggressive malignancy, most commonly diffuse large B cell lymphoma. Rarely, FL transformation results in clinical findings, histology, and immunophenotype reminiscent of B-lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma. We report the largest series to date with detailed analysis of 7 such patients. Lymphoblastic transformation occurred on average 2 years after initial diagnosis of FL. Five patients had prior intensive chemotherapy. Two patients developed mature high-grade lymphoma, followed by the lymphoblastic transformation. FL
