Diagnosis and Classification of Primary Nodal Lymphomas in Dogs: A Consensus of the Oncology-Pathology Working Group.

One of the primary objectives of the Oncology Pathology Working Group (OPWG) is for oncologists and pathologists to collaboratively generate consensus documents to standardise aspects of and provide guidelines for oncologic pathology in veterinary species. Consensus is established through critical review of the peer-reviewed literature relevant to a subgroup's particular focus. In this article, the authors provide a critical review of the current literature regarding methods for the diagnosis and classification of primary nodal lymphomas of dogs, including histopathology, cytopathology, immuno

Effect of preoperative inspiratory muscle training combined with preoperative education on postoperative pulmonary complications in high-risk patients with lung cancer: protocol for a randomised controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Preoperative inspiratory muscle training (IMT) is recognised as an important component of the preoperative management of lung cancer, although there is limited evidence for the delivery of a home-based IMT programme combined with preoperative education. We developed a programme combining short-term home-based IMT and preoperative physiotherapy education ('the programme'). This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of this programme in reducing postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) after lung cancer resection compared with standard care. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: In this ra

Diagnosis and Management of Lean Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD): A Systematic Review.

Lean metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) defies traditional views of fatty liver diseases by manifesting in nonobese individuals. The renaming from nonalcoholic fatty liver disease to MASLD underscores a broader understanding of its pathophysiology, highlighting the complex interplay of metabolic factors beyond obesity. Despite its clinical importance, diagnosing and managing lean MASLD remains challenging due to its historical ties to obesity and a general lack of awareness about its unique characteristics. On December 4, 2023, a systematic literature search was c

Multisensory hallucinations and other unusual sensory experiences in the context of migraine: a systematic review.

OBJECTIVE AND BACKGROUND: Visual auras in migraine have been extensively studied, but less is known about multisensory hallucinations or other unusual sensory experiences, including whether these should be diagnostically considered as part of aura symptoms. The current study aimed to conduct a systematic review and synthesis to bring together existing empirical evidence on these non-visual perceptual experiences, focusing on their phenomenological descriptions and clinical correlates. METHODS: Forty-eight relevant studies were included based on a systematic search across PsycINFO APA and Web

Clozapine and Pneumonia: Synthesizing the Link by Reviewing Existing Reports-A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background and Objectives: Clozapine is a highly effective antipsychotic used for treating treatment-refractory psychotic and mood disorders. However, clozapine also has a serious risk of side effects leading to mortality, particularly its potentiated risk of leading to pneumonia. This review aims to overview the demographic and health-related risk factors leading to pneumonia to better inform risk assessment for clozapine users and to summarise current theories on the mechanisms for clozapine-associated pneumonia. This paper will highlight the need to prioritise pneumococcal vaccination in th

Evaluating the impact of lactase supplementation on infant colic: Study protocol for a systematic review of randomized controlled trials.

Infant colic is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder that affects infants during their first months of life. The etiology of this condition remains unclear. However, some studies suggest lactase deficiency may be a contributing factor. Currently, the evidence on dietary treatment and lactase supplementation for management of infant colic is limited. We aim to systematically review evidence on the efficacy and safety of using a lactase supplementation for managing infant colic. The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL, the Cochrane Library), MEDLINE, and EMBASE will

Mental Health and Placenta Accreta Spectrum.

Nearly half of women describe childbirth as traumatic in some way, making them more vulnerable to perinatal psychiatric illness. Patients with high risk pregnancies, such as abnormal placentation, are even more susceptible to childbirth related mental health sequelae. There are no formal recommendations for mental health intervention in women with placenta accreta spectrum (PAS). In many institutions, the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale is used to assess for depressive and anxiety symptoms during pregnancy and postpartum. Women with PAS should be screened at time of diagnosis, monthly un
