BACKGROUND: To explore the most effective adjuvant chemotherapy regimen for malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) through patient derived tumor-like cell clusters (PTC) drug sensitivity test.
METHODS: PTC were cultured in vitro with intraoperative specimens, and drug sensitivity test was performed to calculate the most effective chemotherapy regimen for MPM. The patients were divided into conventional and individualized chemotherapy group according to whether they received PTC drug testing. Univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to identify independent prognostic factors.

BACKGROUND: Cirrhosis and end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) are significant global health concerns, contributing to high mortality and morbidity. Haemodialysis (HD) is frequently used to treat ESKD in patients with cirrhosis. However, it often presents challenges such as haemodynamic instability during dialysis sessions, leading to less than optimal outcomes. Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) has been recommended by Peritoneal Surface Oncology Group International (PSOGI) and several other academic organizations as the treatment of choice for selected patients with gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis (GCPM). Cytoreductive surgery with HIPEC has definite application to the management of selected patients with peritoneal metastases. Patients who profit most have a complete cytoreductive surgery. Higher-grade tumors such as colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, and ovarian malignancy are benefited by CRS and HIPEC only under limited circumstances. High-grade tumor invades subperitoneal lymphatics where HIPEC is not effective. Options to traditional HIPEC for treatment of invasive intraabdominal malignancies with peritoneal metastases must be explored.
