We report results of follow-up by PAP smears and colposcopy in 116 women treated since 1981 by conization for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia with human papillomavirus infection (HPV-CIN). The mean follow-up time was 31.9 (SD 19) months. Preoperative diagnosis was HPV-CIN II (with extension into the endocervix) in 11 cases and HPV-CIN III in 103 cases; two diagnostic conizations were performed. Primary choroid plexus (CP) tumors are rare neoplasms that present in childhood or, less frequently, in adult life. The majority are benign and amenable to complete surgical excision, but occasionally more invasive variants are encountered. Kallmann syndrome is a genetically heterogeneous disease characterized by hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and anosmia. Six families in which the disorder followed an X-linked inheritance were investigated by linkage analysis. Diagnostic criteria were uniformly applied and included tests for hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and anosmia. The GM2 activator protein is a glycolipid-binding protein required for the lysosomal degradation of ganglioside GM2. A human fibroblast cDNA library was screened with mixtures of oligonucleotide probes corresponding to four different areas of the amino acid sequence. Plasma hyaluronan binding protein (PHBP) is produced only in liver and kidney in mouse. The induction of PHBP mRNA and the conversion of pro PHBP to the active hetero-dimer form were studied after CCl4, D-galactosamine, HgCl2 or turpentine administration and after partial hepatectomy. Meningiomas are primary brain tumors arising from meningothelial cells. They usually grow slowly and are surgically easy to separate from the brain. A recent clonal analysis of meningiomas, using methylation-sensitive restriction fragment length polymorphisms, suggested a monoclonal origin.
