Understanding vitiligo-related concerns through online discourse: an AI-assisted cross-platform study of Chinese and global communities.

OBJECTIVE: To examine major vitiligo-related concerns expressed in Chinese and international social media discourse, and to compare differences in high-frequency questions across two online platforms. METHODS: This study analyzed publicly available vitiligo-related posts from Baidu and Reddit published between October 2021 and October 2025. After stratified random sampling by publication year and quality screening, 2,305 posts were included (Baidu: n = 1,414; Reddit: n = 891). An AI-assisted workflow was used for translation, keyword extraction, and standardization of user-expressed questions

Fear of rabies and post-bite psychological stress: a qualitative study of YouTube comments from India.

BACKGROUND: Dog-mediated rabies remains a fatal yet preventable zoonotic disease and continues to cause a substantial proportion of global rabies deaths in India. Although biomedical and epidemiological aspects are well documented, far less attention has been paid to the psychological impact of rabies exposure and the public fear surrounding it. OBJECTIVE: To explore how rabies is perceived and emotionally experienced in public online discourse in India, and to characterise patterns of anxiety and distress expressed following dog-bite exposure. METHODS: Public comments (n = 300) were retriev

Rethinking indulgence: Cross-cultural measurement invariance and its association with impulsive buying in three countries.

Previous cross-cultural studies on impulsive buying (IB) often treated cultural values as external moderators and assumed that cultural dimensions were unidimensional and stable across nations. At the individual level, the measurement structure of a cultural-value measure may not be comparable across country samples. This study evaluates the unidimensional assumption of an individual-level indulgence measure and examines how its content dimensions are associated with impulsive buying in the three country samples. Data were collected from one cross-national survey of N = 644 participants in Chi

Rationale and design of APOLLO: a personalized rehAbilitation PrOgram in aLLOgeneic bone marrow transplantation.

BACKGROUND: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a common therapy for many hematologic malignancies. While advances in transplant practice have improved cancer-specific outcomes, multiple and debilitating long term physical and psychologic effects remain. Patients undergoing allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (allo-BMT) are often critically ill at initial diagnosis and with necessary sequential treatments become increasingly frail and deconditioned. Despite modern treatment regimens and support, cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of non-relapse mortality among allo

Psychosocial hazards and work-life balance: the role of workplace conflict, rivalry, and harassment in Latvia.

BACKGROUND: Even though the link between the psychosocial work environment and work-life balance (WLB) has been thoroughly researched, there is limited evidence evaluating the impact of workplace violence, sexual harassment, conflicts, and rivalry on WLB. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 2,471 respondents in Latvia from December 20, 2021, to July 14, 2022. WLB was measured through a survey question assessing the frequency of work-life imbalance, with responses categorized into dichotomous variables. The study evaluated the association between the selected workplace psychos

Sexual health and chronic low back pain: A qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Chronic low back pain presents a major challenge to society and healthcare systems, with significant financial and personal consequences. Beyond physical limitations, it affects relationships and sexual well-being-an often-overlooked aspect. Reduced sexual activity and satisfaction can strain intimacy, heighten psychological stress, and amplify pain perception. Despite its importance, sexual health remains underdiscussed in clinical care, and research on this topic is limited. A holistic approach addressing both physical and psychological aspects, including sexual well-being, is es

Association between hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and postpartum depression: a study on low- and middle-income countries with insights from Ghanaian healthcare professionals.

Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) and postpartum depression (PPD) are significant global health challenges affecting maternal and child well-being. HDP, including pre-eclampsia, gestational hypertension, and chronic hypertension, complicate up to 10% of pregnancies worldwide, with profound implications for maternal mortality, particularly in low- to middle-income countries (LMICs) like Ghana. The incidence of HDP is rising globally, contributing substantially to maternal deaths and severe perinatal outcomes such as stillbirth and low birth weight. Concurrently, perinatal mental health

Trauma-Informed Care in Psychedelic Therapy Research: A Qualitative Literature Review of Evidence-Based Psychotherapy Interventions in PTSD and Psychedelic Therapy Across Conditions.

INTRODUCTION: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is associated with significant patient burden. While pharmacotherapies and evidence-based psychotherapy interventions (EBPI) are effective, studies consistently highlight inadequate outcomes and high treatment dropout. Psychedelic therapy (PT) has shown preliminary promise across difficult-to-treat conditions, including MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD, however trials of classical psychedelics in PTSD are lacking. Understanding patients' experiences of EBPI could help promote safety in PT. AIM: To systematically review qualitative research on

Previous Vaccination History and Psychological Factors as Significant Predictors of Willingness to Receive Mpox Vaccination and a Favorable Attitude towards Compulsory Vaccination.

During the ongoing multi-country monkeypox (Mpox) outbreak, healthcare workers (HCWs) have represented a key group in mitigating disease spread. The current study aimed to evaluate the attitude of nurses and physicians in Jordan towards Mpox vaccination, as well as their attitude towards compulsory vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), influenza, and Mpox. An online survey was distributed in January 2023 based on the previously validated 5C scale for psychological determinants of vaccination. Previous vaccination behavior was assessed by inquiring about the history of gettin

A sibling's narrative of recovery from addiction trauma and loss in the family.

WHAT IS KNOWN ON THE SUBJECT?: Addiction has a devastating impact in the lives of millions of people worldwide. Siblings constitute a hidden population. Siblings' attitudes to addiction in the family vary widely from overinvolvement to disengagement among different individuals and across time-line points during the long history of addiction. Female siblings report more negative feelings and attitudes towards drugs and alcohol. Previous research has described the process of a sibling's substance abuse through the eyes of a co-sibling but did not focus on how co-siblings are affected personally.

Effects of workplace bullying on Chinese children's health, behaviours and school adjustment via parenting: study protocol for a longitudinal study.

BACKGROUND: Bullying in the workplace is a serious public health issue. As a chronic work stress, workplace bullying places the victims' physical and mental health at risk which, in extreme cases, may lead to suicidal ideation. The high prevalence rate of workplace bullying has been reported and documented globally. However, a major limitation of the existing literature is that studies essentially focus on the consequences of workplace bullying on victims, including the psychological, physiological and socioeconomic impacts, and on the factors causing workplace bullying, but research on the im

Study protocol of the CAREST-trial: a randomised controlled trial on the (cost-) effectiveness of a CBT-based online self-help training for fear of cancer recurrence in women with curatively treated breast cancer.

BACKGROUND: One of the most prevalent long-term consequences of surviving breast cancer is fear of cancer recurrence (FCR), which is associated with higher (mental) healthcare costs and lower surveillance rates. The majority of breast cancer survivors report a need for professional help in dealing with FCR. An easy-accessible and cost-effective evidence-based psychological intervention for reducing FCR is lacking. In the current study an online self-help training to reduce FCR will be evaluated. In addition, the secondary aim of this study is to identify factors that predict whether women can

International Olympic Committee consensus statement: harassment and abuse (non-accidental violence) in sport.

Despite the well-recognised benefits of sport, there are also negative influences on athlete health, well-being and integrity caused by non-accidental violence through harassment and abuse. All athletes have a right to engage in 'safe sport', defined as an athletic environment that is respectful, equitable and free from all forms of non-accidental violence to athletes. Yet, these issues represent a blind spot for many sport organisations through fear of reputational damage, ignorance, silence or collusion. This consensus statement extends the 2007 IOC Consensus Statement on Sexual Harassment a

Clinical outcomes among low back pain consulters with referred leg pain in primary care.

STUDY DESIGN: Merged data from two primary care prospective cohort studies. OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical course of low back pain (LBP) consulters to primary care with and without self-reported referred leg pain. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: In patients with LBP, the presence of leg pain/sciatica is considered a poor prognostic indicator, associated with more severe pain, disability, and time off work. However, questions remain about how best to identify sciatica in primary care and whether self-reported referred leg pain provides a distinct classification for primary care. METHODS: Dat

LSD and psychotherapy.

A review of the historical trends in LSD research clearly indicates that LSD and similar drugs are too powerful and unique in their psychological effects to be mistaken for and studied as just another group of psychotropic compounds. The importance of the theoretical understanding and expectations of the researchers in determining the subjective effects and results of LSD treatment is undeniable. In addition, double-blind controlled studies have been demonstrated to be an inappropriate methodology for studying LSD, because it is not feasible to create an effective blind for LSD with either an
