A new modality--strong impulse laser radiation--has been tried in the treatment of 99 patients suffering from atonic gastric ulcer. It was found to promote cicatrization in 87% of cases. The effect may be due to correction of immunity and local microcirculation, affection of causative agents. Strong impulse laser radiation appears to be superior to ++trans-endoscopic treatments in safety and availability.

This communication reports cases of 16 women in who cancer of the breast developed after radiation therapy for acne or hirsutism, suggesting another group at higher risk than is generally expected for cancer of the breast. It is prudent to regard the carcinogenic effect of radiation on the breast as proportional to dose without a threshold. Mammography in young women should be ordered only selectively, not for screening.

The carcinogenic effect of ionizing radiation is a well known phenomenon. However, the induction of malignancies following irradiation for head and neck cancers is quite rare (Steeves and Vataini, 1982). Most reported cases are osteogenic sarcomas with soft tissue sarcomas encountered less often. We report a rare case of fibrosarcoma of the larynx, following radiation therapy for glottic carcinoma.

The clinical findings and course of a patient with a germinoma of the pineal region is presented. After a surgical procedure and radiation treatment, ten months after, the patient develops successively peritoneal, ventricular, spinal metastasis. Effective treatment was either radiation treatment or chemotherapy. The frequency of metastasis with germinomas of the posterior part of the third ventricle are discussed, following a review of the literature, prevention and treatment are discussed.

To establish an in vivo radiation carcinogenesis model using glutathione S-transferase placental form positive (GST-P+) hepatic foci, newborn rats were irradiated once by 0.5 Gy and 2 Gy of gamma ray or 0.15 Gy and 0.6 Gy of neutron with or without 0.05% phenobarbital (PB).
