Variability in bacterial sterilization is a key feature of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) disease. In a population of human macrophages, there are macrophages that restrict Mtb growth and those that do not. However, the sources of heterogeneity in macrophage state during Mtb infection are poorly understood. BACKGROUND: The hemopoietic stem cells increase in number during the regeneration after chemotherapy or bone marrow transplantation (BMT). Although the proportion of hemopoietic stem cells and their differentiation have been studied by immunophenotyping using the flow cytometry, no substantial research efforts have been directed toward the regenerating marrow. We attempted to discover the proportions of undifferentiated stem cells, committed stem cells, B cell precursors, and myeloid precursors in the regenerating bone marrows during complete remission (CR) and after engraftment of BMT.

Saliva-activated transmission of Borrelia afzelii Canica, Nato, du Merle, Mazie, Baranton et Postic, 1993 was demonstrated using salivary gland extract (SGE) from Ixodes ricinus (L., 1758) ticks and C3H mice. Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a distinctive clinicopathologic entity and represents 2-8% of all non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. The median survival of patients with MCL is only 3 years, and none of the available conventional chemotherapy regimens appears curative. The X-linked form of hyper-IgM syndrome (HIGM1) is a rare disorder characterized by the inability of B cells to undergo isotype switch by a deficiency of CD40 ligand (CD40L) on activated T lymphocytes. The patients suffer from recurrent infections not only due to a lack of B lymphocyte activation but also due to defect of T lymphocyte functions. In addition, neutropenia is frequently accompanied by these symptoms. A patient with HIGM1, we experienced, suffered from recurrent infections and neutropenia.
