Visual agnosia is a neuropsychological impairment of visual object recognition despite near-normal acuity and visual fields. A century of research has provided only a rudimentary account of the functional damage underlying this deficit. We find that the object-recognition ability of agnosic patients viewing an object directly is like that of normally-sighted observers viewing it indirectly, with peripheral vision. Thus, agnosic vision is like peripheral vision. We obtained 14 visual-object-recognition tests that are commonly used for diagnosis of visual agnosia. Our "standard" normal observer

PURPOSE: Vitreomacular traction syndrome (VMTS) and full-thickness macular hole are two different well-known entities that on follow-up may be subjected to clinical modifications. Precisely, a spontaneous separation of idiopathic VMTS occurred in three eyes of three patients relieving in addition traction of the posterior hyaloid that had led also to a focal macular retinal pigment epithelial detachment (RPE). An association to a full-thickness macular hole was observed in the contralateral eye of one of the patients.
METHODS: This is a retrospective study of three patients evaluated with flu

Although the prognosis for obtaining a clear corneal transplant after aphakic bullous keratopathy is good, many patients do not achieve good vision primarily because of macular disease. To evaluate the visual benefit of an intraocular lens on corneal transplantation, we performed a retrospective study comparing the best attained and latest visual acuities, corneal thinning patterns, endothelial cell densities, and postkeratoplasty complications in 31 patients with aphakic bullous keratopathy, 19 patients with pseuodphakic bullous keratopathy, 44 combined transplants with cataract extraction an

INTRODUCTION: Clinical trials in neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) using anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (ant-VEGF) injections use disease activity (DA) criteria to shorten, maintain or increase the interval between injections. Differences in these DA criteria may contribute to differences in the proportions of patients with macular fluid at key time points or achieving extended dosing intervals in these trials. We identified, collated and evaluated DA criteria from pivotal anti-VEGF nAMD trials to understand how differences impact on these studies and real-world visu
