OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of HLA- haploidentical donor hematopoietic transplantation (Haplo- HSCT)for severe aplastic anemia (SAA)by compared with the same period of unrelated donor transplantation (UD- HSCT).

BKV is known to cause allograft failure in kidney transplant recipients. It has been recently recognized to cause native kidney nephropathy in non-kidney transplant recipients. This is a case report BKVN in a 15-yr-old HTx recipient who had PTLD and a review of pediatric cases in the literature. The patient was diagnosed with BKVN +189 months after transplantation and died thirty days after diagnosis of BKVN. We characterized fibrosing cholestatic hepatitis (FCH) in a large cohort of HIV/HCV co-infected patients. Between 1999 and 2008, 59 HIV infected patients were transplanted for end-stage liver disease due to HCV. Eleven patients (19%) developed FCH within a mean period of 7 months [2-27] after liver transplantation (LT). At Week 1 post-LT, the mean HCV viral load was higher in the FCH group: 6.13 log(10) IU/mL ± 1.30 versus 4.9 log(10) IU/mL ± 1.78 in the non-FCH group, p = 0.05. BACKGROUND: Obesity is a worldwide health problem that is often worsened after organ transplantation. As obesity is associated with increased incidence of metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular events and death, it is essential to control weight and avoid weight gain in patients especially following cardiac transplantation. Of the various strategies that are available for weight reduction, bariatric surgery seems to be the most effective in achieving weight loss and in maintaining the reduced body weight.
