Beekeepers represent a high-risk group for allergic disorders. They are affected by beestings but only a very limited fraction of the population develops severe anaphylactic symptoms. On the other hand several beekeepers have slight anaphylactic symptoms when they start working. Immunologically they are like "spontaneously desensitized subjects". They often have bee-venom specific IgE and all of them have very high titers of bee-venom specific IgG. Beekeepers may present an atopic sensitization to bee-hive dust and develop asthma and rhinitis. Finally, they may present a contact dermatitis to

Under analysis were 40 cases of allergic reactions of the immediate type arising in 38 patients following the application of various pharmacological agents. Urticaria and Quincke's edema were observed in 21 cases and anaphylactic shock--in 19 cases. Rare cases of anaphylactic shock following injections of sombrevin, polyglucin and clinical observations of the recurring character of the course of allergic reactions are described.

Fourty-four patients with deep venous thrombosis of the leg diagnosed by phlebography and not more than five days old were treated with streptokinase. Oral anticoagulant therapy was started at the same time. Complete lysis of thrombi was obtained in 6 cases and partial one in 25 cases. Lysis of proximal thrombi was better than that of distal ones. The age of the thrombi had no effect on the lysis. Urticaria and anaphylactic reactions occurred in 8 patients and treatment was discontinued. Haemorrhagic complications were present in 8 cases but remission was obtained by dicontinuing streptokinase

The paper is devoted to the study of hypersensitivity of anaphylactic type to horse serum in guinea pigs by means of neutrophil injury index in vitro. Simultaneously, for control, the same method was applied to the study of delayed hypersensitivity manifestations; for this purpose allergy to hemolytic staphylococcus was reproduced in these animals. The state of hypersensitivity of "anaphylactic type" against the foreign serum in guinea pigs was not accompanied by any enhanced blood neutrophil reactions, whereas high values of the test under study were characteristic of the process of guinea pi

The effect of antibodies to Fc subfragments of guinea pig IgG on the anaphylactic reaction in guinea pigs has been studied. Control animals were immunized with guinea pig IgG and Fab, human IgG and albumin. All animals with antibodies to fragments of autologous Fc survived challenge with horse serum, whereas the control animals died in anaphylactic shock.

Passive cutaneous anaphylatic (PCA) reactions could be elicited in young chicks using sensitizing antisera prepared in the chicken. PCA reactions were seldom observed in chickens over 4 months of age. It appears that in older chickens the antibody is not fixed to the skin. Several parameters were investigated and these included the latent period, immunological specificity, the best skin site, and the amounts of antibody and antigen necessary for consistently reproducible reactions. Extensive histological studies were carried out. Examination of the vascular morphology and the tissue infiltrate
