Traumatic anterior glenohumeral joint dislocation is the most common type of shoulder instability. Lesions that usually result are avulsion of the anterior capsule and glenoid labrum from the glenoid rim (Bankart lesion), compression fracture of the posterosuperior humeral head (Hill-Sachs lesion), and laxity of the joint capsule. Paget's disease of bone occurs more commonly in the elderly and has been reported to involve the temporal bone in 30% of those afflicted. During exploratory tympanotomy for conductive deafness, the surgeon is occasionally perplexed to find no apparent cause for the air-bone gap. AtxA is a critical transcriptional regulator of plasmid-encoded virulence genes in Bacillus anthracis. Bacillus cereus G9241, which caused an anthrax-like infection, has two virulence plasmids, pBCXO1 and pBC210, that each harbor toxin genes and a capsule locus. Non-typable Streptococcus pneumoniae (NTPn) strains are typically isolated from nasopharyngeal carriage or from conjunctivitis. PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to determine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of various subtypes of thymic epithelial tumors based on the World Health Organization classification.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study included 64 patients with histologically proven thymic epithelial tumors. Two observers evaluated the MRI findings in terms of tumor size, contour, lobulation, shape, homogeneity, the presence of intratumor high- and low-signal foci, enhancement degree and pattern, the presence of capsule and septum, and associated mediastinal lymphadenopathy and pleural effusion.
