Foreign bodies in the colon are encountered with increasing frequency, but only sporadic reports concerning their management have appeared in the literature. While most ingested foreign bodies usually pass through the gastrointestinal tract uneventfully, sharp foreign bodies such as toothpicks infrequently cause intestinal perforation and may even result in death. We report our experience with a patient with a sigmoid colon pseudodiverticulum formation, a complication of accidental ingestion of a toothpick that was diagnosed and successfully managed colonoscopically.

The authors present the case-record of a female patient with serious haemorrhage from the digestive tract. A surprising finding of the acute surgical diagnosis and treatment in the stage of compensated hypovolaemic shock were multiple diverticula of the small intestine aborally from the lig. Tretz on the mesenterial side of the intestine. Massive haemorrhage originated in the diverticula of the terminal ileum, haemostasis was achieved by hemicolectomy with resection of the bleeding part of the ileum. Congenital urethrocele is a fairly rare disease in children. The authors report the case of a 9-year-old child presenting with a penoscrotal mass. Pressure on the mass produced urine. A case of an acquired pharyngeal pouch which formed as a consequence of previous anterior cervical fusion is reported. This is a rare cause of pharyngeal pouch formation with only one such case previously reported in the English language literature. In our case adhesions had formed between the posterior pharyngeal wall and the area around the screw used to hold the Senegas plate on the anterior aspect of the fifth to seventh cervical spinal vertebrae.

An unusual case of a colonic vascular anomaly resembling angiodysplasia associated with right sided diverticular disease is presented. The patient, a 74 year old man, presented with a four day history of rectal bleeding and subsequently underwent hemicolectomy. The resected specimen was flushed out with heparin-saline solution and injected with a barium-gelatine mixture. 31 cases of complicated remnants of the omphalomesenteric duct are reviewed. In particular mechanical just as often as inflammatory complications are noted. There was a predominance of male infants with a mean age of 3.5 years. Surgery is recommended even for still non complicated Meckel's diverticula in childhood. There was no mortality.
