The structure of [CrF(2)([15]aneN(4))]ClO(4).H(2)O ([15]aneN(4)=1,4,8,12-tetraazacyclopentadecane) has been determined by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study at 173 K. The complex crystallizes in the space group P1- of the triclinic system with two mononuclear formula units in a cell of dimensions a=9.6117(7) A, b=10.2882(7) A, c=11.0001(7) A and alpha=99.7570(10) degrees, beta=105.6080(10) degrees and gamma=113.7130(10) degrees. The chlorofluorocarbon substitute 1,1-dichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane (HCFC-123) is a structural analog of halothane. Both are oxidatively metabolized by CYP2EI, producing a reactive trifluoroacyl acid chloride intermediate and have been shown to cause acute liver necrosis in the guinea pig. With halothane, liver injury has been associated with the degree of reactive intermediate binding to hepatic protein. This injury can be potentiated by prior glutathione (GSH) depletion. Thus, the combination of GSH depletion and HCFC-123 exposure was evaluated for its hepatotoxic potential in this species.

We describe our experience in the identification of 19 cases of AML-M0 categorized among 200 consecutive AML cases. Leukaemic cells from our cases were morphologically marked by agranular basophilic cytoplasm, finely dispersed chromatin and prominent nucleoli. In two cases heavily vacuolated and monocytoid-shaped blasts were also observed. We examined bone marrow specimens from 19 patients with malignant histiocytosis (MH) and/or malignant lymphoma (ML) with concurrent hemophagocytic syndrome (HS) who suffered from high fever, hepatosplenomegaly, liver dysfunction, profound cytopenia, and erythrophagocytosis. In order to know the pattern of renal osteodystrophy in haemodialysis patients in Saudi Arabia we conducted a multicentre study involving 209 patients. The mean age of the patients was 39.4 +/- 14 (18-70) years, 128 were males and 81 females. All patients were on acetate dialysate and their mean duration on dialysis was 3.5 +/- 1.5 years.
