AIMS: To examine the clinical and biological features of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in children with Down's syndrome (DS), to compare their survival with other children, and to determine if entry to trials and survival has improved.

Between 1985 and December 2000, 2,395 new cases of HIV infection were diagnosed in Navarra. The years showing the highest incidence were 1987 with 250 cases, and 1991 with 232 cases. Starting in 1993 a progressive decline can be observed, reaching 35 cases in the year 2000. In the same period, 1985-2000, 690 cases of AIDS were diagnosed amongst residents in Navarra. It is important to catch and treat signs of mental distress so as to prepare the woman for her approaching delivery, to optimize her role as a mother, and to prevent development of severe psychopathology. The addition of an antireflux wrap (partial or total), while preventing reflux, may result in persistence or incomplete relief of dysphagia in patients with total oesophageal aperistalsis. The technique of laparoscopic cardiomyotomy used in Dundee preserves the lateral and posterior attachments of the gastro-oesophageal junction, and was designed to minimize the risk of gastro-oesophageal reflux.

With the aim of investigating a possible relationship between "objective" halitosis (established by sulfide levels in the breath) and Helicobacter pylori, we performed a study in 58 dyspeptic patients reported to suffer from "bad breath." The prevalence of hemiplegic shoulder pain (HSP) and associated factors was studied in patients with a stroke followed for 6 months after discharge from hospital. A questionnaire was used to evaluate shoulder symptoms and an examination of the shoulder and arm was carried out three times over 6 months.
