Regulating Surface Electron Dynamics Enables Selective C─N Coupling in Photoelectrochemical Oxime Synthesis.

A central challenge in photoelectrochemical multi-electron transformations is simultaneously achieving efficient charge separation and precise control over reaction selectivity. Herein, we construct a p-n junction photocathode composed of an atomic-layer-deposited ZnOx layer and black silicon (b-Si) to regulate interfacial electron dynamics and reaction selectivity. Upon illumination, oxygen vacancies in the ZnOx surface serve as electron-buffering sites that facilitate reversible charge storage and release, as confirmed by in situ Kelvin probe force microscopy. This modulation of electron che

In vitro skin models for pigmentary disorders: from reconstructed tissues to skin-on-a-chip platforms.

Cutaneous pigmentary disorders, including vitiligo, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) and solar/senile lentigines (SL), are prevalent, chronic and recurrent conditions driven by interactions among melanocytes, keratinocytes, fibroblasts, immune cells, the extracellular matrix (ECM) and environmental stimuli. Conventional animal models and two-dimensional cultures incompletely reproduce the cellular heterogeneity, tissue architecture and the dynamic microenvironment that regulates human pigmentation. To address these challenges, this review evaluates human-relevant in vitro mod

The impact of gender inequities on antimicrobial resistance in low-income countries: a comprehensive review.

INTRODUCTION: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a leading public health threat, the burden of which falls disparately on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Despite increasing efforts to slow the progress of AMR, gender, an important determinant of health, remains unaddressed in most major policy frameworks. This omission leaves gaps in our social understanding of AMR, undermining the efficacy of public health interventions. AREAS COVERED: We searched databases and gray literature, adopting a narrative approach to identify and present evidence. In this article, we examine three domains

Activity as a readout parameter for neurobehavioral research and severity assessment in laboratory rodents: a systematic comparison and meta-analysis of measurement techniques.

Despite the widespread use of locomotion and activity analyses in neurobehavioral research and severity assessment, comparative evidence on the sensitivity and informative value of available monitoring techniques remains limited. Our study addresses these gaps by systematically evaluating activity data from multiple techniques across different interventions and disease models. The meta-analysis of datasets from the DFG FOR2591 consortium assessed how horizontal activity and locomotion change following surgical procedures, during stress paradigms, and in non-genetic and genetic disease models.
