AIM: The aim of the present study was to assess risks prior to third molar removal. A 2-D panoramic radiograph or a 3-D cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan can be used to visualize the proximity of the third molar to the mandibular canal. A chronology of dental development in Pan troglodytes is arguably the best available model with which to compare and contrast reconstructed dental chronologies of the earliest fossil hominins. This study compared subsequent pregnancy outcome in patients with complete and partial hydatidiform moles. Among 1052 patients with molar pregnancy (complete mole, 801; partial mole, 251) monitored at Chiba University Hospital between 1981 and 1999, 891 patients (84.7%) had spontaneous resolution of human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) after mole evacuation, and 161 patients (15.3%) required chemotherapy. The effect of N-bromosuccinimide (BSI) on micrococcal histidine decarboxylase in 0.07 M phosphate buffer, pH 5.6 was studied. Taurodontism leads to constriction of the cementoenamel junction, which results in vertically elongated pulp chambers, apical displacement of the pulpal floor, and bifurcation or trifurcation of the root. This trait can be seen in permanent and primary teeth, in a single tooth or in several molars in the same quadrant, and can be unilateral or bilateral. We report a rare case of a 26-year-old male patient presening with taurodontism involving all the developed molars of all four quadrants, which was not associated with any other anomalies or syndromes.

With conventional mechanics to protract the upper posterior teeth for correcting Class III molar relationships, such as intra-arch mechanics, face mask reverse-pull headgear protraction, and interarch Class III elastics, there are some adverse effects, including diminished patient compliance, the possibility of losing anchorage, and extrusion of upper molars and lower incisors with counterclockwise rotation of the occlusal plane. Protraction force should be directed through the center of resistance of the upper posterior teeth to prevent these side effects.

The prevalence of chronic periodontitis was investigated in six hundred and two 14-year-old English schoolchildren using a standardised radiographic technique. The interproximal spaces on the mesial and distal aspects of the first molar teeth were examined. Oral cleanliness and gingivitis for the anterior teeth and caries prevalence were also recorded. Radiographic evidence of chronic periodontitis was detected in 51.5% of the children examined. No significant relationship was demonstrated between bone loss associated with the first molars and any of the other parameters measured.
