Dyschromatosis symmetrica hereditaria (DSH) is a pigmentary genodermatosis caused by mutations in ADAR1. In this study, we performed mutation analysis on a family that included typical DSH patients. No mutations were found in any coding regions or exon-intron boundary regions of ADAR1, but a previously unreported non-coding heterozygous variant, c.-60A>G, was found in the 5' untranslated region (5'UTR) of ADAR1 in the proband and her mother. PURPOSE: Given the poor results using hypofractionated radiotherapy for early breast cancer, a dose of 50 Gy in 25 fractions (fr) has been the standard regimen used by the Danish Breast Cancer Group (DBCG) since 1982. Focal choroidal excavation (FCE) has recently been described as one or more localized areas of choroidal excavation on spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). The authors describe a case of bilateral FCE in Best vitelliform macular dystrophy (VMD). Schwannoma, a benign tumor of peripheral nerve sheath, infrequently contains melanin and even less frequently features psammoma bodies. Forty schwannomas that displayed both findings were obtained from 31 patients, aged 10 to 63 years.
