The relationship between preoperative temperature and intraoperative hypothermia in patients undergoing robotic colorectal cancer surgery.

Intraoperative hypothermia (IOH) is a prevalent perioperative complication.Although the use of robotic surgery in addressing colorectal cancer has seen a notable upward trend in recent clinical practice, its particularity increases the risk of IOH. Therefore, it is particularly important to study the relationship between robotic colorectal cancer surgery (RCRC) and IOH. We retrospectively collected data from patients who underwent RCRC at Jiangsu North People's Hospital from October 2019 to February 2025. Data regarding intraoperative core temperature and potential influencing factors was coll

Uncloggable ventriculoperitoneal shunt system for hydrocephalus via an integrated soft robotic device: CLEARS device.

Ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt obstruction, often caused by protein and fat accumulation at the ventricular catheter ports, impedes cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) outflow, increases intracranial pressure (ICP), and leads to hydrocephalus. Current treatments require invasive shunt removal, reimplantation, or retrograde flush cleansing. We present a next-generation VP shunt system that actively removes blockages via external actuation. Our system, called CLogging Elimination ActuatoR Silicone (CLEARS), integrates a soft, expandable silicone tube within the catheter lumen. This soft robotic insert, c

Diagnostic patterns after adoption of shape-sensing robotic-assisted bronchoscopy: a retrospective cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths, due in part to the high proportion of late-stage diagnoses. Shape-sensing robotic-assisted bronchoscopy (ssRAB) is a novel bronchoscopic platform that enhances access to peripheral pulmonary lesions. However, its impact on diagnostic stage and procedural outcomes in clinical practice is not well established in the literature. This analysis assesses the impact of a new ssRAB program on these outcomes at a single site within an academic health system. METHODS: A retrospective chart review of patients who underwent an ssRAB b
