The usual surgical choice of customized cage fixation is anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) for cervical spondylosis with disc herniation. The safe and successful cage fixation for ACDF surgery benefits patients with cervical disc degenerative disease by easing their discomfort and regaining function. The cage prevents mobility between the vertebrae by using cage fixation to anchor the neighbouring vertebrae. The goal of the current study is to develop a customized cage-screw implant for single-level cage fixation at C4-C5 level of the cervical spine (C2-C7). The Finite Element Ana

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Simple closed lateral elbow dislocation is rare, often associated with neurovascular injury and closed reduction may be difficult. Open complex postero-lateral dislocation has not been previously reported.
CASE PRESENTATION: We present a case of open left posterior lateral elbow dislocation secondary to assault with a cutlass causing an avulsion fracture of the lateral epicondyle and common extensor origin tendon which prevented congruent reduction until the avulsed fragment was fixed with a bone screw.
CLINICAL DISCUSSION: The patient had hemorrhagic shock from

Background and Objectives: The incidence of pyogenic spondylodiscitis has been increasing due to the aging of the population. Although surgical treatment is performed for refractory pyogenic spondylodiscitis, surgical invasiveness should be considered. Recent minimally invasive spine stabilization (MISt) using percutaneous pedicle screw (PPS) can be a less invasive approach. The purpose of this study was to evaluate surgical results and clinical outcomes after MISt with PPS for pyogenic spondylodiscitis. Materials and Methods: Clinical data of patients who underwent MISt with PPS for pyogenic

INTRODUCTION: Lisfranc injuries refer to a specific group of injuries which lead to instability of the tarsalmetatarsal joint. Our hypothesis is that persistent instability is permanent and asymptomatic in subtle unstable injuries of the medial column which have been fixed percutaneously.
OBJECTIVE: To describe the persistent instability of pure ligamentous Lisfranc joint injuries treated with anatomic reduction and percutaneous screws fixation by comparative radiographs of both feet.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between 2014 and 2018, 14 patients diagnosed with subtle unstable Lisfranc injury wer

UNLABELLED: Introduction. Simultaneous bilateral fractures of the femoral neck are considered very rare injuries. Few cases were reported in the literature. Most cases were reported in elderly patients with underlying bone pathology. Case Report. We report a case of a 31-year-old male patient who presented to the emergency department with bilateral hip pain and inability to bear weight after a sudden loss of consciousness and fall while running on a treadmill. The patient had a recent history of anabolic steroids, growth hormone, and other supplements used for bodybuilding. Radiological studie

Objective To evaluate, through a biomechanical assay, the maximum load, energy, and displacement necessary for the occurrence of fractures in synthetic models of femurs after the removal of cannulated screws and the performance of a reinforcement technique with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) in different combined positions. Methods In total, 25 synthetic bones were used, and they were divided into 4 groups: the control group (CG), with 10 models without perforation, and the test groups (A, B and C), with 5 models each. The test groups were fixed with cannulated screws using the Asnis techniqu

INTRODUCTION: Sacral agenesis is a rare congenital disease with radiologic manifestation of sacrum deformity. Its clinical manifestations include spinopelvic instability due to sacroiliac joint deformity, spinal rotation, scoliosis, difficulties in walking, and claudication. Surgical intervention aims to prevent further deformity progression and to improve the patients' walking function. It is challenging to achieve solid arthrodesis for this congenital disease, and fusion failure could aggravate deformity.
CASE PRESENTATION: We retrospectively studied one case of a 12-year-old girl with sacr

Ideberg type III glenoid fractures with associated superior shoulder suspensory complex (SSSC) injuries are rare, and related treatments have not been reported in the literature. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical outcomes of such injuries treated with open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF). Between July 2007 and April 2012, ten patients with Ideberg type III glenoid fractures were surgically treated using ORIF with 2 cannulated screws or a screw combined with a metacarpal plate through an anterior approach. Patients with associated SSSC injuries underwent ORIF with K-

Osteochondritis dessicans of the femoral head is an uncommon problem. Limited literature reports the incidence of osteochondritis dessicans and its treatment. The surgical technique used and outcomes for a 40-year-old man with symptomatic femoral head osteochonditis dissecans who was treated 11 years previously with retrograde drilling and hip arthroscopy are discussed.Despite temporary symptomatic improvement without subchondral collapse after his index procedure, increasing pain a decade later was thought to be caused by a large apical osteochondritic fragment and chondrolabral dysfunction f

First metatarsophalangeal joint arthrodesis is a useful procedure for various first ray pathologic entities. Multiple constructs for fixation have provided successful fusion. A retrospective study of 21 feet (18 patients) was performed after first metatarsophalangeal joint fusion using crossed Kirschner wires or compression fixation with cannulated screws followed by the application of a 2-hole low-profile partially locking titanium plate. The median age was 59 (range 41 to 76) years, and we had 4 smokers and 3 patients with diabetes in our series. Postoperatively, a compression dressing with

A retrospective study between 1995 and 2004 of fracture repair in cats (n = 46) using interlocking nails (ILN) was made. Only the cases in which clinical and radiographic examination of bone healing were available are included. Five humeral and twenty eight femoral fractures were reviewed. Multiple-hole interlocking nails (MH-ILN) were used in 22 fractures, with the four-hole model (FH-ILN) in the remaining cases. In three of the cases, the FH-ILN was transformed to a three-hole model by cutting the nail between the two most distal holes. The average length of humeral ILN was 78.8 mm, and the
