Pathways between climate change and HIV health in rural Kenya: a qualitative analysis.

Climate change-related severe weather events are heavily impacting regions with the highest prevalence of HIV, creating additional vulnerabilities for already vulnerable populations. Little is understood about how people perceive or experience the mechanisms by which extreme weather events affect the health of people living with HIV (PLHIV). We conducted a qualitative study using in-depth, semi-structured interviews with 40 PLHIV enrolled in a cluster randomized clinical trial that included 8 pairs of health facilities in rural Western Kenya, who were 18 years or older, receiving ART for > 6 m

Co-creating a person-centered creative engagement intervention for Parkinson's care.

BACKGROUND: Recent research in the field of "Arts and Health" has demonstrated the beneficial impact of arts-based interventions on health and well-being across diverse populations. Recognizing their potential, especially in cases where conventional healthcare cannot address the multifaceted impact of conditions such as in Parkinson's disease (PD), our study advocates for an integrative approach in medical practice and neuroscience. We recommend incorporating learning environments from the design phase through long-term care. The arts offer a unique opportunity to create such environments. In

Cost and clinical flow of point-of-care urine tenofovir testing for treatment monitoring among people living with HIV initiating ART in South Africa.

INTRODUCTION: Point-of-care (POC) urine tenofovir (TFV) tests can provide timely information regarding antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence to support management of HIV treatment in clinics. However, there are limited data on the costs and feasibility of integrating POC testing into HIV clinics in sub-Saharan Africa. We characterized clinic flow and implementation costs of POC adherence testing for persons initiating ART in HIV care clinics in South Africa. METHODS: We conducted a microcosting within a randomized controlled implementation trial of POC TFV test in government clinics in Durba

Assessing quality of life and readmission rates among women in psychiatric care: a mixed-method study.

BACKGROUND: The mental health of women is significantly shaped by gender-related issues stemming from social and cultural disparities, which intensify female susceptibility and culminate in mental disorders. Despite a plethora of studies delineating the effects of gender on mental health, there exists a conspicuous deficiency in research investigating women's viewpoints regarding their own experiences of rehospitalization. Therefore, the principal aim of our investigation was to assess the relationship between rehospitalization and the Quality of Life (QoL) among women undergoing treatment at

Perceived Unmet Need for Care and Barriers to Care Among Individuals with Mental Health Issues: A Meta-analysis.

Unmet needs refer to the gap between the health services individuals require and what they receive. Individuals with mental health issues often face barriers preventing them from accessing the care they need. A meta-analysis was conducted to estimate the pooled prevalence of unmet needs for care and barriers to care among individuals with mental health issues. The databases PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library were searched for relevant studies published from December 1, 1985 to August 1, 2024. Following the screening process, 204 included studies remained for meta-analysis. In
