BACKGROUND: Impairments in balance control and falls are common problems for people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS), resulting in mobility limitations and reduced participation. Non-invasive neuromodulation techniques such as functional electrical stimulation (FES) and transcutaneous spinal stimulation (TSS) have revealed promising results in improving motor functions in other neurological populations; however, their effects during task-specific balance training have not been investigated in PwMS.
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, safety, and preliminary clinical efficacy

INTRODUCTION: Radiographer preliminary image evaluation (PIE) is a patient safety mechanism where radiographers provide a written comment describing potential pathology in radiographs they have acquired. This can assist emergency referrers in making a diagnosis when a radiologist's report is unavailable. The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of radiographer PIE in interpreting paediatric trauma radiographs in an Australian emergency department.
METHODS: A randomised sample of paediatric radiographic examinations (aged 16 years and under) from January 2022 to June 2023 was retrosp

INTRODUCTION: Snapshot studies have emerged as valuable research design in cancer research, offering rapid, multicenter evaluation of clinical practice on an (inter)national scale. Compared to randomized controlled trials, which are time- and resource-intensive, snapshot studies collect large-scale real-world data in reduced timeframe. In breast cancer care, snapshot studies are particularly effective identifying variations in clinical practice, guideline adherence, and surgical outcomes. Through the MANS and DECIDE studies, nationwide snapshot research on real-world surgical outcomes in breas

OBJECTIVE: In an era where digital devices become increasingly available, passive and active capturing of patient data during their everyday life becomes possible. However, it is still unclear to what extent people with chronic diseases are willing to use digital health technology (DHT) to assess study-relevant endpoints. The aim of the present study was therefore to determine such acceptance rates for clinical studies and which type of DHT patients prefer.
METHODS: A survey with 492 people with Parkinson's disease (64 ± 11 years, 41% female) and 75 people with an immune-mediated inflammatory

Reirradiation (reRT) is an increasingly significant therapeutic option for managing recurrent cancers. Its implementation requires multidisciplinary expertise to address challenges such as patient selection, cumulative dose management, and advanced imaging integration. Despite its growing use, formal reRT-focused education remains limited. To address this gap, a national workshop was organized to enhance knowledge, promote collaboration, and establish a working group for reRT in France.Conducted in June 2024, the workshop was organized by Unicancer Formation, the training body of Unicancer, th

INTRODUCTION: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a global public health issue. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a non-invasive and cost-effective method used for nearly three decades to assess the nutritional and volume status of dialysis patients. Despite its clinical utility, the quality of research and emerging trends in this field are not well understood. To address this gap, we conducted a bibliometric and visualization analysis from 1990 to 2024.
METHODS: A comprehensive search in the Web of Science Core Collection on December 31, 2024, yielded 460 citations of reviews, articles,

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requires radiology residents to engage in an annual safety event that leads to actionable changes in residency programs. Root cause analysis (RCA) is frequently used to fulfill this requirement. Because actual RCA is rare, simulations are a suitable alternative. We evaluated the feasibility and effectiveness of using simulated RCA curriculum to meet the ACGME safety requirement. During the 2023-2024 academic year, quality improvement staff in the radiology department developed a simulated RCA and invited radiology residents to pa

INTRODUCTION: Acute patellar tendon injuries in children are rare but increasing due to more high-energy sports participation. These injuries often involve bony fractures, with isolated tendon avulsions being uncommon. Timely diagnosis and surgical intervention are essential to restore knee function and pre-injury activity levels.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 12-year-old male student-athlete was brought to the hospital after his right knee buckled while playing football. He exhibited significant tenderness, swelling, and an inability to actively extend the knee. Clinically, a palpable gap below the i

OBJECTIVE: Mental health challenges are common in individuals with cancer, but accessing support remains a gap, particularly in outpatient oncology. Real-world factors influencing staff's ability to integrate mental health assessment and support into workflows are unclear. We aimed to (1) identify and explore factors influencing the assessment and management of mental health in outpatient oncology and (2) identify factors that influence normalising support for mental health during cancer treatment.
METHODS: Through an exploratory qualitative approach, data was collected via focus groups with

BACKGROUND: While advance care planning (ACP) is linked with clinical and psychosocial benefits for older adults and their informal carers, uptake is low. Inadequate communication skills amongst clinicians has been identified as a key barrier to effective ACP. While existing literature reviews have focussed on hypothetical preferences, barriers and facilitators, none have examined direct experience of ACP communication with this population. The aim of this review was to identify and synthesise qualitative evidence regarding the communicative practices used to support older adults, informal car
