A six-year longitudinal study of a well-being evaluation and support program for medical students.

BACKGROUND: Few studies have shown the impact of learning environment interventions on improving well-being among medical students. We report a longitudinal study in which a class of medical students was followed during their undergraduate medical course (six years). We developed a program based on yearly evaluation of physical and mental health, followed by orientation toward physical activity, and toward mental and physical health care. Our hypothesis was that a program of support for medical students could have a positive impact on the resilience and mental health of these students. METHOD

Cognitive Mediation of Biopsychosocial Determinants of Quality of Life in Epilepsy.

PURPOSE: Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder with complex etiology and high recurrence rates, often leading to substantial impairment in patients' quality of life (QoL). Within the biopsychosocial (BPS) framework, multiple biological, psychological, and social factors interact to influence QoL. Cognitive dysfunction is common in epilepsy and may play a critical role in this process. This study aimed to investigate the mediating role of cognitive function in the relationship between BPS factors and QoL in patients with epilepsy. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 252 patients with epilep

Psychological distress and associated stressors with proposed stress reduction model for Chinese international postgraduate students in Malaysia: A cross-sectional study.

INTRODUCTION: In recent years, there has been an exponential rise in students inbound to Malaysia to pursue their postgraduate studies. In particular, Chinese international postgraduate students (CIPS) represent a rapidly growing student population in this country, which is postulated to lead to substantial psychological distress resulting from academic, cultural, and financial adjustments that are required of the students immersing themselves in a new environment. Nevertheless, quantitative evidence regarding depression, anxiety, and stress among CIPS in Malaysian public universities remains

RA-PR058, a novel ramalin derivative, reduces BACE1 expression and phosphorylation of tau in Alzheimer's disease mouse models.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a multifactorial neurodegenerative disorder characterized by cognitive decline, anxiety-like behavior, β-amyloid (Aβ) accumulation, and tau hyperphosphorylation. BACE1, the enzyme critical for Aβ production, has been a major therapeutic target; however, direct BACE1 inhibition has been associated with adverse side effects. This study investigates the therapeutic potential of RA-PR058, a novel ramalin derivative, as a multi-targeted modulator of AD-related pathologies. The effects of RA-PR058 were evaluated in vitro and in vivo. In vitro studies used SH-SY5Y cells un
