Drone Infrared Thermography for Detecting Skin Thermal Anomalies in Bottlenose Dolphins: Preliminary Insights.

Monitoring the health of cetaceans is challenging as traditional approaches including vessel-based surveys and necropsies are often opportunistic and limited in their ability to detect subtle physiological changes. Infrared thermography (IRT) offers a non-invasive alternative by detecting surface temperature anomalies that may reflect localised physiological variation, including changes associated with inflammation, scarring, tissue disruption or thermoregulatory processes. Mounted on drones, IRT can enable remote thermal imaging of free-ranging individuals. This case study presented prelimina

Implementation of digital tuberculosis information systems: perspectives from 10 high TB burden countries.

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global health crisis, with 10.8 million people diagnosed annually and 2.7 million cases going undetected in 2023. While TB digital health information systems offer promising solutions for detection and management in low- and middle-income countries, implementation effectiveness varies significantly across health system contexts. However, no studies have systematically examined implementation experiences across multiple high-burden countries using implementation science frameworks, leaving National TB Program (NTP) managers without evidence-based guidance for c

Family planning service receipt during facility visits in Ethiopia: Evidence from the 2021-2022 service provision assessment survey.

BACKGROUND: Family planning is a central component of reproductive health and contributes to reductions in maternal and child mortality. While most evidence in Ethiopia is derived from household surveys, limited attention has been given to service delivery at the point of care. This study examines determinants of receipt of family planning services during facility visits using nationally sampled Service Provision Assessment (SPA) survey data. METHODS: A facility-based cross-sectional analysis was conducted using nationally implemented SPA survey data. The survey employed a stratified multista

Validation of Cognitive Rehabilitation as a Balance Rehabilitation Strategy in Patients with Parkinson's Disease: Study Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder. This disease is characterized by motor symptoms, such as bradykinesia, tremor, and rigidity. Although balance impairment is characteristic of advanced stages, it can be present with less intensity since the beginning of the disease. Approximately 60% of PD patients fall once a year and 40% recurrently. On the other hand, cognitive symptoms affect up to 20% of patients with PD in early stages and can even precede the onset of motor symptoms. There are cognitive requirements for balance and can be challeng

Is Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion More Expensive at Quaternary Care Centers? An Application of Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing.

OBJECTIVE: Hospital setting is postulated to be a key driver of cost variation for neurosurgical procedures. Limitations in contemporary costing methodologies have led to the development of time-driven activity-based costing (TDABC). This study applies TDABC to anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) to compare intraoperative costs at quaternary care centers versus satellite hospitals affiliated with the same health network. METHODS: Nine hundred and fifty-eight ACDF cases performed at two quaternary care hospitals (n = 806) and six satellite hospitals (n = 152) were reviewed. Process
