Nursing-led tele-coaching for enhancing self-efficacy and lifestyle adherence among gestational diabetic women: tele-nursing versus traditional nursing intervention program.

BACKGROUND: Increased maternal morbidity and mortality as well as poor neonatal outcomes are two major public health concerns associated with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) GDM. Maternal health can be improved using tele-nursing, especially in rural areas where access to healthcare is limited. The study’s aim is to assess the effects of tele-nursing with standard nursing care as a novel strategy for improving the lifestyle, self-efficacy, and satisfaction of women with gestational diabetes. DESIGN: A quasi-experimental design was used. SETTING: Three major hospitals in Tanta City’s outpat

Evaluation of clinical outcomes of implants placed into the maxillary sinus with a perforated sinus membrane: a retrospective study.

BACKGROUND: Sleep services are assigned a non-essential status during COVID-19. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine strongly urges sleep clinicians to continue postponing non-urgent care until a later date, if such a recommendation is made by state officials due to local conditions. At the same time, one cannot ignore the fact that sleep is important for people's health and wellbeing. Therefore, to protect the health of the population, it is essential to find ways and means to continue the practice of sleep medicine even during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHOD: Social environment and work eth

Exploring the Use of Persuasive System Design Principles to Enhance Medication Incident Reporting and Learning Systems: Scoping Reviews and Persuasive Design Assessment.

BACKGROUND: Medication incidents (MIs) causing harm to patients have far-reaching consequences for patients, pharmacists, public health, business practice, and governance policy. Medication Incident Reporting and Learning Systems (MIRLS) have been implemented to mitigate such incidents and promote continuous quality improvement in community pharmacies in Canada. They aim to collect and analyze MIs for the implementation of incident preventive strategies to increase safety in community pharmacy practice. However, this goal remains inhibited owing to the persistent barriers that pharmacies face

Perspectives of Certified Nurse-Midwives and Physicians on the Structural and Institutional Barriers that Contribute to the Reproductive Inequities of Black Birthing People in the San Francisco Bay Area.

INTRODUCTION: Black birthing people in the United States disproportionately endure inequitable experiences and outcomes during pregnancy and childbirth via structural, interpersonal, and obstetric racism. In this study, the researchers explore provider perspectives of how racism is perpetuated in institutional perinatal and reproductive health care. METHODS: Critical Race Theory, Reproductive Justice, and midwifery theory were operationalized through secondary thematic analysis of existing qualitative data from the Community Racial Equity and Training Interventions and Evaluation of Current a

U.K. standards of care for occupational contact dermatitis and occupational contact urticaria.

The diagnosis of occupational contact dermatitis (OCD) and occupational contact urticaria (OCU) is a process that involves fastidious clinical and occupational history taking, clinical examination, patch testing and skin-prick testing. A temporal relationship of work and/or the presence of a rash on the hands only raises suspicion of an occupational cause, and does not necessarily confirm an occupational causation. The identification of allergy by patch or prick tests is a major objective, as exclusion of an offending allergen from the environment can contribute to clinical recovery in the ind

General practitioners' involvement in inpatient medical rehabilitation in Germany: a scoping review.

BACKGROUND: The German rehabilitation system has some peculiar features, such as the predominance of inpatient medical rehabilitation. Most patients receive inpatient rehabilitation due to chronic illnesses like chronic backpain or psychosomatic diseases. General practitioners play a special role in the German healthcare system as they are often the first point of contact for health issues. The study aims to provide an overview of the involvement of general practitioners in inpatient medical rehabilitation in Germany as well as identifying barriers and facilitators. By doing this, a basis for

Facilitators and barriers to blood and blood product accessibility and use in sub-Saharan Africa: a systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Access to safe blood and blood products is a global health priority, requiring concerted public health efforts to ensure universal access to reduce the global disease burden. However, there are inequities in access to safe and adequate blood and blood products in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), leading to marked challenges in meeting the clinical needs of patients with diverse pathologies. This study used the WHO health system building blocks to systematically synthesize the literature to understand the barriers to blood and blood product usage in SSA. METHODS: We used the PRISMA guidel

[Expert consensus: reducing free-sugar for caries prevention].

In modern society, sugary foods have become an integral part of many people's lives. However, excessive sugar consumption has adverse effects on both overall health and oral health, serving as a contributing factor to the global increasing incidence in oral diseases, cardiovascular diseases, cancers, obesity, and diabetes. In response to the health risks related to high-sugar diets, the World Health Organization (WHO) and World Dental Federation (FDI) have proposed initiatives and recommendations, with various governments implementing different policies and strategies to reduce sugar intake. Assessing the persistence of Sporothrix schenckii and Sporothrix brasiliensis yeasts on hard, non-porous surfaces and the efficacy of disinfectants.

Sporotrichosis is a serious fungal disease of humans and animals worldwide. The ongoing epidemic of cat-transmitted sporotrichosis caused by Sporothrix brasiliensis in South America raises major public health concerns, yet data on environmental persistence and disinfectant efficacy are scarce. Using the quantitative disk carrier method (ASTM 2197), we evaluated persistence and disinfectant susceptibility of Sporothrix schenckii and Sporothrix brasiliensis yeasts on hard, non-porous stainless-steel surfaces. Both species remained viable for at least 6 weeks, supporting the potential for fomite-

Journal of Global Health's Guidelines for Reporting Analyses of Big Data Repositories Open to the Public (GRABDROP): preventing 'paper mills', duplicate publications, misuse of statistical inference, and inappropriate use of artificial intelligence.

In recent years, global accessibility to large 'big data' repositories that enable 'open research' - such as the UK Biobank, National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), and Global Burden of Disease (GBD) datasets - has created unprecedented opportunities for researchers worldwide to conduct secondary data analyses. This development is particularly beneficial for early-career researchers in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), as it lets them access large and otherwise costly datasets without the need for local infrastructure, potentially curbing brain drain. However, throug

Testing the 4Rs and 2Ss Multiple Family Group intervention: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) is a major mental health concern and highly prevalent among children living in poverty-impacted communities. Despite that treatments for ODD are among the most effective, few children living in poverty receive these services due to substantial barriers to access, as well as difficulties in the uptake and sustained adoption of evidence-based practices (EBPs) in community settings. The purpose of this study is to examine implementation processes that impact uptake of an evidence-based practice for childhood ODD, and the impact of a Clinic Implement

Can Social Network Analysis Help Address the High Rates of Bacterial Sexually Transmitted Infections in Saskatchewan?

BACKGROUND: Saskatchewan has one of the highest rates of gonorrhea among the Canadian provinces-more than double the national rate. In light of these high rates, and the growing threat of untreatable infections, improved understanding of gonorrhea transmission dynamics in the province and evaluation of the current system and tools for disease control are important. METHODS: We extracted data from a cross-sectional sample of laboratory-confirmed gonorrhea cases between 2003 and 2012 from the notifiable disease files of the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region. The database was stratified by calenda

Strengthening the service continuum between transfusion providers and suppliers: enhancing the blood services network.

As the cost of health care increases, the focus on cost containment grows. The pressure to reduce costs comes at the same time the public focus is on ensuring a zero-risk blood supply. The blood supply has never been safer or more expensive. With the relative vanquishing of transfusion-transmitted diseases, noninfectious risks now exceed infectious risks. This has resulted in a call to refocus blood safety efforts on interconnected processes that link a unit of blood from its volunteer blood donor to the patient. Additional costs in the blood supply chain will create new pressures on an alread

Comparative Efficacy of High-Intensity Interval Training, Moderate-Intensity Continuous Training, and Routine Pharmacological Treatment on Glucolipid Metabolism in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes: A Meta-Analysis.

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) and moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) are widely used strategies for managing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), but evidence on their comparative effects and practical feasibility is limited. A systematic search of CNKI, Wanfang, PubMed, Web of Science, and EBSCO-SPORTDiscus was conducted up to January 31, 2026, to identify randomized controlled trials enrolling adults with T2DM. Twenty studies (n = 981; 49.6% male; mean age 58.04 ± 10.08 years; mean body mass index 28.03 ± 4.43 kg/m2) with interventions lasting ≥8 weeks reporting fasting bloo
