We compared excitability of the flexor carpi radialis (FCR) motoneuron pool in subjects with and without carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). We studied the pre-myoclonus spike using magnetoencephalography in patients with cortical myoclonus (6 with cortical reflex myoclonus and one with epilepsia partialis continua). Botulinum toxin treatment improves dystonic blepharospasm by inducing transient paresis of the orbicularis oculi muscle. The effects of chlorpromazine treatment on spinal motor asymmetry was studied in right-handed chronic schizophrenia patients. Spinal motor asymmetry and lower motor neuron excitability were tested by the Hoffmann reflex recovery curve. The role of endogenous opioids on the reflex cardiovascular control of chronic uraemic patients was investigated. The authors reviewed 100 cases of pathologically confirmed acoustic neurinomas and compared tumor size, based on observations at operation, with findings on history and physical examination. An 80-year-old lady had a history of progressive swallowing difficulty over several years with significant weight loss, but prior investigations in several medical departments proved negative. Neurological assessment noted her complaint of impaired feeling for food in her mouth and examination showed impaired corneal reflexes and facial sensory function. Blink reflex electrodiagnostic testing was consistent with a diagnosis of facial onset sensory and motor neuronopathy (FOSMN).
