Spontaneous recurrent hemarthrosis following total knee replacement is a relatively rare complication. It requires a different and swift management plan compared to any other knee swelling. Presentation can vary from 2 months to 1.5 years, and it can lead to further complications, including a limited range of movement and severe stiffness, resulting in compromised functionality. Although etiology is not well understood, it can be due to instrumentation leading to direct vessel injury, including popliteal and geniculate arteries, arteriovenous fistula, and pseudoaneurysms. This case report aims

Robotic splenectomy (RS) is an advanced alternative to conventional laparoscopy, offering advantages such as 3D vision and superior articulation, which are crucial in complex cases like splenomegaly. We present the case of a 22-year-old woman with a giant splenic cyst measuring ~13 cm. Robotic-assisted splenectomy was performed using the multi-port Da Vinci Xi system. The robotic approach facilitated the precise dissection of the splenic hilum and the short gastric vessels, allowing the spleen to be extracted intact with minimal bleeding in 2 h. Robotic splenectomy proved to be a safe and effe

Ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) is observed in approximately 30% of patients with ectopic kidneys. Due to the narrow pelvic space and risk of injuring aberrant structures, an ectopic pelvic kidney with UPJO presents a unique treatment challenge. Most experiences in treating UPJO in pelvic ectopic kidneys using robotic surgical systems are based on the pediatric population. Only a few cases of successful robotic-assisted surgery in adult patients with this condition have been described. This case reports illustrates that the indications for robotic-assisted surgery for UPJO may safely

A 17-year-old male and a 30-year-old female with bladder exstrophy-epispadias complex and failed primary repair during infancy presented with continuous urinary leakage and an open bladder plate. Considering their age and desire to avoid a stoma and catheterization, a Mainz II continent urinary diversion was performed with robotic assistance. The ureters were implanted into an S-shaped, low-pressure, high-capacity sigmoid pouch using an extramural serosal tunnel technique to create an anti-refluxing anastomosis. At 3-month follow-up, both patients were completely continent, able to hold urine

PURPOSE: Native nephrectomies for patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) have traditionally been performed via an open approach. We have previously described our experience with robotic synchronous bilateral nephrectomies. However, little data is available comparing open nephrectomy (ONx) to robotic nephrectomy (RNx). Here we compare outcomes of ONx and RNx in patients with ADPKD undergoing synchronous bilateral nephrectomy.
METHODS: We performed a retrospective review of patients with ADPKD undergoing open or robotic synchronous bilateral nephrectomy from January

Flexibility training involving stretching aims to increase the range of motion (ROM) about a joint and mitigate factors that limit mobility. Stretching has been used for improving human performance and preventing injuries. Further, stretching can be used as spasticity treatment in people with spinal cord injury to provide relief from muscle spasms and improve passive ROM. Therapists apply manual stretching to participants; however, providing personalized and repeatable stretching forces is caregiver intensive. This paper describes the methods to apply three stretching techniques and determines

BACKGROUND: The deltoid ligament can tear in association with an ankle fracture or a syndesmotic injury or independently. Previous biomechanical research has shown that the optimal surgical treatment method for an anterior deltoid tear is repair with tibiocalcaneal augmentation. However, tibiocalcaneal augmentation is technically challenging to perform, as there is a risk of damage to neurovascular structures in the medial ankle.
PURPOSE: To determine if tibiotalar augmentation is sufficient to stabilize the ankle in the setting of a deltoid tear.
STUDY DESIGN: Controlled laboratory study.

BACKGROUND: Sacral fractures are typically caused by high-energy trauma. They often disrupt the pelvic ring and pose complex anatomical challenges, as the sacrum is surrounded by critical structures-including blood vessels, nerves, and internal organs. Traditional open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) can restore anatomical alignment but requires extensive tissue exposure. This exposure leads to greater tissue trauma, prolonged recovery, and higher risks of infection, hemorrhage, or nerve damage. For these reasons, minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is preferred. However, MIS demands high

INTRODUCTION: En-bloc celiac axis resection (CAR) was first proposed by Lyon H. Appleby in 1952 for gastric cancer and later modified for pancreatic resections with gastric preservation by Nimura et al. in 1976. CAR remains uncommon, performed in fewer than 0.2 cases annually. Advancements in preoperative imaging and anatomy understanding, ischemic complication management, and centralization of care have improved outcomes. This report presents a robotic distal pancreatectomy (DP) with CAR and superior mesenteric artery (SMA) divestment.

OBJECTIVE: Rigid suction-coagulation probes constrain the wrist-like articulation that is central to robotic surgery. We therefore designed a 5-mm single-use flexible suction ball coagulator (flex-SBC) with a modified core design to restore dexterity and assessed its mechanical performance and early clinical feasibility, including the effect of the common robotic gripping strategies on suction flow.
METHODS: Preclinical. The new 7 × 7 core embedded in silicone was compared with the conventional 1 × 7 core design. Shaft pliability was quantified by sagging displacement and rebound force testin
