Geriatric dermatology in India is gaining steady momentum, because the aging population is dramatically increasing. India crossed the United Nations definition of an aging country when the population of persons aged older than 60 years exceeded 7%. The dermatologic issues of this aging population are strongly influenced by many social, economic, and cultural factors. Pigmentary disorders are the prime example of cultural factors affecting dermatoses and their treatment. Nipple and areola reconstruction is very important in the evaluation of the quality of breast reconstruction. It can be done during the primary or secondary breast reconstruction or later. We have performed the techniques of nipple reconstruction routinely since 1992. Under local anesthesia during a second operative time or general anesthesia during breast reconstruction, the local "F" and "Z" skin flaps and tattooing grant a quality result in the wound and the long-term projection. They are easily reproduced, rapid and as there is no graft the choice of the incisions grants a good tolerance.

The development of cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM) and its precursor lesions, melanocytic nevi, has been linked to sun exposure. Cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs) are the majority of DNA lesions induced by sun exposure. Technical experiences with three types of machines, a horizontal box with Sylvania fluorescent lamps, a stand-up box, and a hand-foot-box with Osram fluorescent lamps are reported.
