Streptococcal toxic shock syndrome with the initial manifestation of abdominal pain and cholecystitis is rare. We report the case of a 10-year-old boy who presented with abdominal pain, cholecystitis and shock initially. Acute respiratory distress syndrome, renal and hepatic insufficiency and disseminated intravascular coagulation developed soon after admission. From July to August 2002, a large outbreak of Legionnaires' disease occurred in the northern area of Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. OBJECTIVE: To summarize our hospital's experience in the diagnosis and treatment of Candida infection in patients with acute necrotizing pancreatitis (ANP).
METHODS: Seventy-eight cases with ANP were reviewed. There were diagnoses either by operative finding or by CT scanning. Sixty-two cases received prophylactic antibiotic treatment, other sixteen did not. Bridging bronchus is a rare anomaly in which the right lower lobe bronchus arises from the left main bronchus and bridges the lower mediastinum.
