Narrative review of the barriers and facilitators to chlamydia testing in general practice.

As the cornerstone of Australian primary health care, general practice is a setting well suited for regular chlamydia testing but testing rates remain low. This review examines the barriers and facilitators to chlamydia testing in general practice. Six databases--Medline, PubMed, Meditext, PsycInfo, Scopus and Web of Science--were used to identify peer-reviewed publications that addressed barriers and facilitators to chlamydia testing in general practice using the following terms: 'chlamydia test*', 'STI test*' 'general practice', 'primary care', 'family medicine', 'barriers', 'facilitators' a

Non-pharmacological and complementary interventions for comfort promotion in pediatric intensive care units: A systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Comfort is a fundamental yet often underaddressed aspect of care in pediatric intensive care units (PICUs), where children experience pain, anxiety, and physiological distress from invasive procedures and environmental stressors. Although pharmacological management is essential, it may cause adverse effects. Non-pharmacological and complementary nursing interventions have emerged as adjunctive strategies, but their effectiveness has not been systematically synthesized. OBJECTIVE: This systematic review aimed to evaluate and synthesize the available evidence on the effects of non-p

Fractured Guidance in Recent U.S. Vaccine Policy and Implications for Nurses.

Historically, U.S. vaccine policy relied on a stable, multi-agency infrastructure and external scientific advisory processes to maintain public health. However, beginning in 2025, radical departures from these established scientific norms occurred and led to significant changes to the federal vaccination schedule for children and pregnant women. These events have resulted in a fractured vaccine policy, with numerous states and professional organizations now bypassing federal guidance in favor of recommendations from nongovernment bodies such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Matern

Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Digital Game-Based Learning Given to Nursing Students for the Developmental Care of Infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Although simulation laboratories are widely used in today's nursing education programs, it is becoming more and more difficult to find adequate physical space, equipment, and instructors for laboratory practices in schools. With increasing access to quality technology, schools prefer Web-based education or virtual games as another way of learning through simulation laboratories. This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of digital game-supported teaching activity given to nursing students for the developmental care of infants in neonatal ICU on learning. This study is a quasi-experimen

Accuracy and clinical utility of comprehensive dysphagia screening assessments in acute stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Nurses and other nonspecialists in dysphagia are often trained to screen swallowing poststroke. There are many basic tools that test water only, they are usually conservative, and patients that fail the test remain nil by mouth until a speech and language therapy assessment. More comprehensive tests also allow nonspecialists to recommend modified oral intake. Little is known about the accuracy, clinical utility and cost-effectiveness of these tests. METHODS: Following PRISMA guidelines, a systematic review was conducted to describe comprehensive swallowing tests that are availab

A systematic review and thematic synthesis of qualitative studies exploring GPs' and nurses' perspectives on discussing weight with patients with overweight and obesity in primary care.

Guidelines and evidence suggest primary care clinicians should give opportunistic interventions to motivate weight loss, but these rarely occur in practice. We sought to examine why by systematically reviewing qualitative research examining general practitioners' ('GPs') and nurses' views of discussing weight with patients. We systematically searched English language publications (1945-2018) to identify qualitative interview and focus group studies. Thematic methods were used to synthesise the findings from these papers. We synthesised the studies by identifying second-order themes (explanatio
