From Clinical Perception to Implicit Bias: Understanding Personality Traits in Lymphoma Patients.

Background/Objectives: Some haematologists share the perception that patients with Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) behave and manifest emotional expressions in a characteristic way. Previous research suggested a unique personality profile in HL patients compared to the general population. This study aimed to analyse and compare the personality traits of HL and NHL patients to identify potential differences. Methods: In this cross-sectional, descriptive, multicentre and replicative study, we included patients with HL and NHL from the Spanish Group of Lymphoma (GELTAMO). Personality traits and other psy

Phenotypic characteristics of chronic pain and pain-related factors in gender minority persons: a cross-sectional study.

Gender minority (GM) persons have been reported to experience chronic pain at higher rates than the general population, yet comprehensive pain phenotyping in this group remains underexplored. The goal of this cross-sectional study was to characterize chronic pain and pain-related factors in GM persons and examine associations of these characteristics with gender identity and gender-affirming hormone therapy (GHT). One hundred three GM adults completed validated questionnaires assessing pain characteristics and severity, sleep, fatigue, stress, trauma, and the chronic overlapping pain condition

A brief screener for impairment in personality functioning: Psychometric validation of the Five-Item Screening Scale for Personality Disorders in a Dutch-speaking clinical sample.

Personality disorders (PDs) are characterized by problems with identity and self-direction. Since the recent dimensional PD models of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition (DSM-5) and the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, 11th edition, the role of identity and self-direction in personality pathology has been made explicitly by including these problems in a general personality pathology criterion. This criterion reflects impairment in personality functioning (IPF), which is assessed on a continuum to determine th

The influence of personality in persons with MS.

BACKGROUND: Comprehending the influence of personality traits on functional outcomes in persons with Multiple Sclerosis (pwMS) can aid in tailoring interventions and support strategies. We explored how demographic variables and personality traits predicted current vocation, information processing speed, anxiety and depression symptoms, and disability level in pwMS. METHODS: We used a retrospective chart review on pwMS treated at the London (ON) MS Clinic, that assessed demographic data and personality traits. Participants were 384 (68.8 % females, mean age of 37.8, SD = 10.4) individuals with

A high-density EEG investigation into the neurocognitive mechanisms underlying differences between personality profiles in social information processing.

This study investigated whether differences between personality styles in the processing of social stimuli reflect variability in underlying general-purpose or social-specific neurocognitive mechanisms. Sixty-five individuals classified previously into two distinct personality profiles underwent high-density electroencephalography whilst performing tasks that tap into both aspects of cognitive processing - namely, two distinct facets of general-purpose response inhibition (interference resolution and action withholding) during social information processing. To determine the stage of processing

Anxiety and depression affect performance on the symbol digit modalities test over time in MS and other immune disorders.

BACKGROUND: Longitudinal studies assessing depression and anxiety effects on cognition in multiple sclerosis (MS) are limited. OBJECTIVE: We tested whether within-person fluctuations in symptoms of depression or anxiety over time affect cognition in persons with MS, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and a lifetime history of depression/anxiety disorders (DEP/ANX) but without an immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMID). METHODS: We followed participants (MS: 255, IBD: 247, RA: 154, and DEP/ANX: 306) for 3 years. Annually, they completed the hospital anxiety and

Experiences of physical strain during person transfer situations in dementia care units.

UNLABELLED: Caring for residents with dementia impose a higher challenge and workload on the nursing staff because of a higher degree of motor function and cognitive decline among the residents. Training in person transfer tasks for nursing staff has mostly been concentrated on ergonomics irrespective of the nature of the resident's functional decline. An increased knowledge about the nursing staffs' experiences of physical workload in dementia care and in how to reduce their physical strain is needed. AIM: The aim of the study was to describe nurse's aids' experiences of physical strain duri

Characterization of fine particulate matter in Ohio: indoor, outdoor, and personal exposures.

Ambient, indoor, and personal PM2.5 concentrations were assessed based on an exhaustive study of PM2.5 performed in Ohio from 1999 to 2000. Locations in Columbus, one in an urban corridor and the other in a suburban area were involved. A third rural location in Athens, Ohio, was also established. At all three locations, elementary schools were utilized to determine outdoor, indoor, and personal PM2.5 concentrations for fourth and fifth grade students using filter-based measurements. Three groups of 30 students each were used for personal sampling at each school. Continuous ambient PM2.5 mass c

Cross-View Multimodal Vision-Based Assessment Framework for Traditional Chinese Medicine Rehabilitation Training.

Vision-based assessment can provide convenient and cost-effective evaluation in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) rehabilitation training, where action quality assessment (AQA) from computer vision offers a promising solution. Existing automatic AQA frameworks for physical therapy typically rely on skeletal data captured from a single viewpoint, which is inefficient for TCM techniques such as acupuncture or Tuina that involve dense hand self-occlusion and complex hand-object interactions. To address these challenges, we propose CME-AQA, a cross-view, multimodal vision-based assessment framewo

Receipt and timing of HIV drug resistance testing in six U.S. jurisdictions.

The Department of Health and Human Services recommends drug resistance testing at linkage to HIV care. Because receipt and timing of testing are not well characterized, we examined testing patterns among persons with diagnosed HIV who are linked to care. Using surveillance data in six jurisdictions for persons aged ≥13 years with HIV infection diagnosed in 2013, we assessed the proportion receiving testing, and among these, the proportion receiving testing at linkage. Multivariable log-binomial regression modeling estimated associations between selected characteristics and receipt of testing (
