A 41-year-old woman presented to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of our hospital because of abdominal distension and irregular genital bleeding. Computed tomography and ultrasonography of the abdomen revealed bilateral ovarian tumors, massive ascites, and bilateral pleural effusion. Type IV advanced gastric cancer was diagnosed on upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. The patient was admitted to our department. A 26-year-old man was referred to our hospital for treatment of metastatic testicular cancer. The pathological diagnosis was choriocarcinoma with seminoma. Sequential computerized tomography examinations revealed rapidly progressing bulky liver metastases and a lung metastasis. Chemotherapy with bleomycin, etoposide and cisplatin (BEP) was started on the day of admission. Subsequently, the patient suffered from tumour lysis syndrome (TLS) and massive haemorrhage at metastatic sites. The latter complication is also called choriocarcinoma syndrome. Computed tomography proved insensitive to leptomeningeal spread of hematologic malignancies including leukemia, lymphoma, and malignant histiocytosis. BACKGROUND: There is a known association between the development of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) after a primary nonthyroidal cancer (NTC). However, the prevalence of synchronous or antecedent NTCs in patients with PTC is undetermined, as are the clinicopathologic characteristics of PTC in these patients.

We describe a patient who developed multiple meningiomas but had no clear evidence of neurofibromatosis type 2. Four of the tumors, derived from three different sites, were analyzed cytogenetically and/or at the DNA level using chromosome 22 specific probes. All four tumors showed loss of the same copy of chromosome 22. On the chromosome that was retained in the tumors, we found two constitutional aberrations, a 1.5 kb deletion and a point mutation. Tumor-to-tumor metastasis (TTM) is a rare phenomenon. We present a case of an invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) of the breast metastasizing to a clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck is the most common neoplasia in the head and neck area followed by malignant lymphoma. Here we describe for the first time the synchronous manifestation of a squamous cell carcinoma and a follicular lymphoma of the palatine tonsil. Histomorphologic and etiopathogenetic characteristics are described and discussed on the basis of the current literature. The coincidence of a lymphoma and a squamous cell carcinoma in the head and neck area is an oncologic rarity as well as an interdisciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic challenge.
