BACKGROUND: Hypokalemia is a well-described electrolyte disturbance in patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD). Hyperkalemia, however, is still overlooked, although it also represents a risk factor for mortality. Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and/or angiotensin receptor blockers (ACE/ARB), diuretics, and proton pump inhibitor (PPI) can interfere with potassium levels in these patients.

We present the clinical observation of a female patient with cystic peritoneal malignant mesothelioma developed in the thickness of the abdominal wall. Computed tomography showed a well-described nodular structure of 6cm in size with a central dense core of 0.5cm with compression against the rectosigmoid. Pressurised intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC) was introduced in Denmark in 2015. More than 100 Danish patients with peritoneal metastases (PM) have received PIPAC-directed treatment within the PIPAC-OPC1 and PIPAC-OPC2 trials. PIPAC-directed treatment is feasible and safe, and there are no occupational risks for the involved healthcare professionals. An objective tumour response is seen in two out of three patients, and the survival data warrant further evaluation in large-scale randomised trials in patients with PM from different primary tumours.

PURPOSE: Psammocarcinoma (PK) is a rare disease of unknown origin. We aimed to report the characteristics, management and survival of patients operated on for PK within the French Network for Rare Peritoneal Malignancies (RENAPE) expert centers.
