Thioredoxin glutathione reductases (TGRs) (EC 1.8.1.9) were purified to homogeneity from the cytosolic (cTsTGR) and mitochondrial (mTsTGR) fractions of Taenia solium, the agent responsible for neurocysticercosis, one of the major central nervous system parasitic diseases in humans. The five major classes of mouse immunoglobulin have been purified and, by appropriate immunization of goats, monospecific antisera have been obtained. With these antisera the five classes of mouse immunoglobulin have been quantitated in the serum of normal C3H and BALB/c mice from birth to the end of the first year of life. Newborn mice of both strains have shown no IgA or IgM in their serum by the method used. A mutant of bacteriophage T4 unable to induce exonuclease A has been isolated. The mutation responsible for this defect maps between genes 39 and 56, in a region of the chromosome devoid of other known markers. Four deletion mutants lacking part of the genome located between genes 39 and 56 also fail to induce exonuclease A. The ability of all of these mutants to replicate suggests that exonuclease A is not essential for replication of phage T4.

Human bronchial airways obtained after surgical resection were maintained in tissue culture for 24-48 h. Incorporation of [(3)H]- or [(14)C]-glucosamine, [(14)C]threonine, or Na(2)[(35)S]O(4) to the culture media resulted in biosynthesis of two radiolabeled glycoproteins-one filtering in the exclusion volume of Sepharose 2B, and the other filtering with an approximate molecular weight of 400,000.
